Nintendo being more adult like now!

Remember VGC, that Nintendo is a kid friendly company. Ever since the SNES, N64, they have became more adult like with games companies made like Doom 64, Duke Nukeum, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Resident Evil and anything that is adult like. With the Wii, that Legend of Zelda game had gotten a T rating for the first time. I predict that there will be way more adult like games on the Wii.

I doubt Nintendo will change much, if at all.

I haven't been following Nintendo's growth much but Conker's Bad Fur Day is a rather lackluster platformer. It may have its fair share of humor elements but forcing the player to re-do the same exercise for three or four times really gets monotonous. Basically, Conker had the potential to become a worthwhile platformer but alas that's not what we received.

Doom 64 was a painfully underdeveloped FPS in terms of graphics and gameplay. If you were looking for a semi remake of Doom, you should happily nominate 64. However, for those of us desiring for a modern remake a la Doom 3 that actually takes advantage of the N64 hardware, we were sorely disappointed. The same case is with Duke Nukem. 3D Realms still hasn't released a true 3D sequel to Duke Nukem 3D. We got other installments like the Tomb Raider like game but it was really a pity that the N64 didn't get better installments of that particular series.

As for Perfect Dark, personally I didn't find the single player experience anywhere near as exciting as Goldeneye. Resident Evil was merely a port from the PSX so that's nothing to get excited about.

Considering "Red Steel" had no blood in the game despite its title I seriously doubt that Nintendo is going to change. I wouldn't consider Doom 64 an 'adult" game.

Ummm, I'm sure Red Steel was not Nintendo's fault considering that it wasn't even developed by Nintendo, nor was Conker's Bad Fur Day. I don't think Nintendo, as a company, has changed. The same that Sony hasn't changed and MS hasn't either. Companies may learn from mistakes but Sony was never the good guy the same as Nintendo was never the good guy or MS. Somebody on this board said it before that these are all giant corporations. Nintendo isn't fun, cuddly company the same as Sony isn't the gnarly company that makes sweet games for cool kids or whatever. Nintendo makes games for their own market while Sony realizes they can reach an even wider market with the games they make. It's about money, it's about product, and that's all it's about.

I'm surprised that you think that Duke Nukem 64 was edgy by Nintendo's standards, seeing as they made the developers remove the toplessness and harsher language from the PC, Saturn and PS1 versions.  I think perhaps the edgiest game I've seen on a Nintendo system would have to be BMX XXX.  If nothing else, I never thought I'd see the day where a game on a Nintendo system would have nudity in it (Bubble Bath Babes on the NES doesn't count, because I don't think Nintendo offically approved that game).

I'd have to agree with it, generally.  They may be legal adults, but for the most part, especially these days, alot of them continue to do things normally reserved for juveniles.  Look at college students.
