Blood, Sweat, and Pixels: The Triumphant, Turbulent Stories Behind How Video Games Are Made

Postby ActRaiser » June 17th, 2019, 4:48 pm

Has anyone else read this book?

It's terrific. I listened to the Audible version of it on my commute over a few weeks.

Here's the link to it on Amazon if you want to check it out. https://www.amazon.com/Blood-Sweat-Pixels-Triumphant-Turbulent-ebook/dp/B01NAKSWW1

And full list of games are arranged by chapter.

    Stardew Valley
    Diablo III
    Destiny
    The Witcher 3
    Halo Wars
    Pillars of Eternity
    Dragon Age: Inquisition
    Shovel Knight
    Uncharted 4
    Star Wars 1313

The indi games tell of major dedication and sacrifice, ie Stardew Valley and Shovel Knight. While the large publisher games tell stories of either massive crunch, poor direction, or lack of vision.

If you've ever wanted to know what making a game is like, this book is for you.

Thanks for the heads up.. I was reading the preview and it sounded really interesting, getting an inside look at the industry. I just bought the print version of the book.
