This may already be covered but....
I HATE people who post reviews or give a game a score on say, gamespot or ign, BEFORE the game is out! This is the one reason that I don't even bother reading player reviews b/c you don't even know if people have played the games! I think the websites should lock up this feature before the game is released. I mean, that wouldn't stop the so inclined from writing such reviews but maybe it would help...
ok...I fell much better...thanks!

Geez! Who would have thought! Two posts from Shawn on the same day that I fully agree with.

Not always. On Amazon, I see people posting "reviews" for games that aren't out yet, and clearly they haven't played the game. Usually, it's something like "This is gonna be the best NHL hockey game ever! I can't wait!"

actually, that is what happens when reviewers attempt to objectify something subjective like a review. there is no scientific or mathematical method to giving a game a review score.

sega saturn x, he's talking about reader reviews, like any one of us could post at IGN. Not the ones done by the editors.

I guess I should have said "reader reviews" instead of "player reviews". I can see where you could get confused by that.

That is stupid. But then, most people know what they think of a game before it is even out, as most people don't buy games anymore, they buy hype.

Yeah, that stinks in general, even on movie sites like Yahoo! where the users that have some sort of ideological beef with a movie will slam the system with F reviews, so that the best a movie can do is a C.

God I hate seeing the average score and reader reviews for games on 1up weeks before the game is out. They all are either "10/10 this game is going to rock", or "0/10 this game looks stupid, and the company releasing it is stupid."
