When you can't even graciously accept an award anymore, you should start rethinking your PR strategy.

Thanks for that information. Just an FYI, the actual link is here.:

Sounds like Sony misinterpreted the notification. They believed (and announced) that they were winning the award for the SIXAXIS, but they were actually winning it for their Dual Shock controller.
I am not sure how this happens at a corporation as big as Sony. Usually, there are several departments in place to deal with these announcements.
In all seriousness though, who wouldn't be confused at first glance. Sony's Dual Shock and Nintendo's D-Pad, both of which were in the running for this award, were innovations from the distant past. To suddenly get an award like this makes it seem more like an award structure similar to a Nobel Prize, which considers these types of innovations long after their initial debut in order to evaluate their true impact. It's probably somewhat narrow minded, but when I hear "Emmy", I think of things which were released/performed within the last year.

Nintendo did NOT create the joystick, they were about ten years too late on that one. However they did make the D pad popular. And either way 360 controller>everything else made in the last ten years.

Nah...its ok, but I still prefer the dual shock, six axis controller design. There is a reason why that controller design has been around for 3 generations of video games...
Anywho, everybody prefers different controllers and I'm not knocking you for liking the 360...just stating my own personal preference. Personally I don't like the placement of the triggers and the shoulder buttons on the 360...I find it to be a little cumbersome. To each his own though.

It's only been around for 3 generations because it's what people got used to. The 3d stick placement on the Sony pad hurts it for fps.

Can Sony do anything right anymore?
What the?
I heard the Genesis won an award at the same ceremony for coolest intro "Sonic the Hedgehog" with it's singing of "SEEEEE-GAAAA" and the Atari 2600 won an award for the greatest console design derived from a Stationwagon with "Wood paneling".
What a BS award. But the Dualshock is the best overall controller of the last 10 years

[/QUOTE]I agree completely. I think the dual shock is actually one of the absolute worst controllers of all time. The placement of the d-pad and the lack of triggers demonstrates how stuck in the mid ninties the company is with regard to controller design. My biggest problem with the Wii is that the retro controller resembles that useless thing.

I can see the complaint in that one, but it also feels a lot like the SNES controller to me as well. Plus it's smaller, which makes the stick placement much less problematic.
The one thing I can still complain about the VC classic controller is the placement of the two sets of left and right shoulder triggers beside of each other instead of behind each other. It makes for some awkward situations. Still, the sheer size of the controller makes that less problematic than it could have been.
