Attention moderators:

After deleting a bunch of worthless threads and messages, I realize I need to be more selective in what I approve (I suspect I approved many of these).  In the past I'd approve just about anything that didn't have profanity, but lately the quality has been getting really low, and some of the threads were unreadable.

A few over-enthusiastic young people have been posting like crazy, and they aren't really saying anything.  Nobody should be allowed to post several times to the same thread in one day.  Posting using different aliases should not be tolerated.  And we shouldn't be approving overly-general new threads like "what's the best console?"

Let's make sure that the messages we approve for now on state their case intelligently and really contribute something to the conversation.  That way be can keep the garbage to a minimum.

Thanks!

I'm glad to get permission to do that because I have been dying to a couple times but was worried I might be stepping on your toes or something.

I got this email from "Koopa":

Subject: WTF is your problem?
Dave, you have begun to tick me off. Don't let it happen again. We aren't worthless.

So I banned him and his friend from these message boards.  I don't have time for this nonsense.

I applaud and approve of the effort to clean things up here. It's the VGC's forum and he should be able to run it as he sees fit.

But now how will we ever know what the best console is?

I hope that people don't get the wrong idea about young(er) posters here, though. I'm 15, but I speak 2 languages (learning my third) and play 6 instruments fluently. Not all schoolkids are ignorant; just most.

I agree with Ironknux about his statement. Not all younger people to view and post on these forums are uneducated/rude (most seem to know a great amount of knowledge about the topic they are typing/replying to, or are looking to become knowledgeable from the other olders users to these forums.)  Also, to reply to what the Critic mentioned earlier, I'm satisfied the posts are to be required to actually contribute to the topic. It makes reading the topics/replies more worthwhile.

Hey, it was only a few bad apples. I'm sure there are plenty of cool 14-17 year olds posting on these forums.

LMAO.

I appreciate your efforts to clean-up the boards. I agree that the deluge of oddball, and unintelligible posts seemed to be growing.

What the hell happened to Koopa...he went batsh** in a matter of hours!  He went from being somewhat strange, slightly awkward teen to this absurdly obnoxious adolescent.  Hmmm, once puberty hits you don't know what the hell is gonna happen...damn hormones.

My theory is that his "girlfriend" caught him playing videogames and decided to stop seeing him so he took it out on the Critic...and everyone here.  Kid found a chick that wants to control his life at 13, nice catch there champ!

Good riddance...
