PS3 Controller
However, in Ridge Racer 7, the lack of vibration is very noticeable. When rolling over rocks or grass, it almost feels odd not having the controller move at all. It really does make the game less immersive.
This is another strike against the PS3 (there are many), and I'm wondering if Sony is planning on replacing the PS3 controller anytime soon with one that does have the force feedback. What do you think?

There are many games that don't include "rumble" so I am not sure how important that is. I would have liked some more weight to the controller, I personally think that is more of a problem. I do like the new "trigger" buttons. Anyway....how are you enjoying the games so far?

Not sure where to begin but here are a few:
- Outrageously priced - can't argue with this.
- Terrible launch that was delayed several times
- System supports HD but includes no HD cable. And they're really hard to find.
- Controller's motion detection mechanism doesn't compare to the Wii
- Launch games not very impressive - and most are ports
- To read your memory PS1 and PS2 memory cards, need to buy separate adaptor!
- Overhyped. Sony said it would be revolution, but just offers better-looking version of standard games
- Online service doesn't compare to Xbox according to recent Playstation magazine.
- Not 100% backwards compatible and does not support old peripherals

BULL - Considering you get a Blue Ray player it is CHEAP!
- Terrible launch that was delayed several times
BULL - Just as good as the 360's. Delayed several times? Who cares.
- System supports HD but includes no HD cable. And they're really hard to find.
Legit - they should be included
- Controller's motion detection mechanism doesn't compare to the Wii
Perhaps but the Wii's motion detection isn't that immersive anyway. Have you tried "slamming" a ball in Wiisports tennis? Can't do it! How about the wonderful control for Red Steel and Farcry - pathetic! Wow! I can really swordfight in Red Steal - NOT!
- Launch games not very impressive - and most are ports
Legit - so was the 360's. Many GREAT games on the way in 2007, wish I could say the same about the Wii.
- To read your memory PS1 and PS2 memory cards, need to buy separate adaptor!
- Legit but I could care less.
- Overhyped. Sony said it would be revolution, but just offers better-looking version of standard games
Bull - this system is amazing.
- Online service doesn't compare to Xbox according to recent Playstation magazine.
Not sure but how the hell would you know or why would you care "Mr. I hate online play. By the way, Resistance online play (not co-op) is ten time better then Gears.
- Not 100% backwards compatible and does not support old peripherals
- This can be fixed and will be. Many more games backward compatible then the 360 at launch.
I like your site but only put any faith on old reviews. Somewhere along the line I think you lost your objectivity and I am not sure if I can trust a person who hates Sony as much as you do.

"BULL - Considering you get a Blue Ray player it is CHEAP!"
I think its safe to say that the Critic was looking for a game machine with the PS3, not a machine to play movies in a format that Sony can control, which is basically why they developed it. It doesn't do anything gaming wise basically that the cheaper Xbox 360 already can't do, in fact the 360 has the advantage with the superior online portion and controller.
" Terrible launch that was delayed several times
BULL - Just as good as the 360's. Delayed several times? Who cares."
Not really, fact is the PS3 was delayed. The PS3 saw mostly junk, a few ports of decent Xbox 360 titles like Call of Duty 3 (That don't equal the 360 versions graphically), and Resistance. The 360 had a decent number of solid exclusives for the system at launch.
"Perhaps but the Wii's motion detection isn't that immersive anyway. Have you tried "slamming" a ball in Wiisports tennis? Can't do it! How about the wonderful control for Red Steel and Farcry - pathetic! Wow! I can really swordfight in Red Steal - NOT!"
Poor programming in Red Steel and Far Cry doesn't mean there are any issues with the Wii controller, nor does the fact that you can't slam a ball in tennis. Those are game issues, not hardware issues.
"- Overhyped. Sony said it would be revolution, but just offers better-looking version of standard games
Bull - this system is amazing."
To use your terminology, Bull. It's not doing anything better than the cheaper and less powerful Xbox 360 can't already do better as far as games are concerned.
"Not sure but how the hell would you know or why would you care "Mr. I hate online play. By the way, Resistance online play (not co-op) is ten time better then Gears."
Lame arguement, I don't have to have raced a Lotus 49b Formula One car in 1967 to be able to tell you that the car was fragile and broke easily. The fact that the PS3 online portion is weaker than the 360 is something easily gleaned from research, the Critic doesn't have to have had tried it.
"- Not 100% backwards compatible and does not support old peripherals
- This can be fixed and will be. Many more games backward compatible then the 360 at launch."
The Xbox 360 was never advertised at any point as fully backwards compatible, the PS3 was. And not all issues can be fixed, especially as far as peripherals go. The fact that titles with problems number in the hundreds and include some of the best selling PSOne and PS2 titles can only be seen as a negative. Same as the fact that the games look worse than when played on a PS2. Disappointing at best so far.
"I like your site but only put any faith on old reviews. Somewhere along the line I think you lost your objectivity and I am not sure if I can trust a person who hates Sony as much as you do."
Replace hates with love, and you basically just described yourself as far as the users here can tell.
Stating out issues that actually exists that many feel are legitimate problems is in no way losing your objectively. Slamming someone because they're pointing these facts out despite your own love for the console isn't being objective.

Shawn, a better way to show the PS3 has as good motion sensing as the Wii would be to demonstrate an example of good PS3 motion sensitivity. I can slam a ball just fine in Wii Sports Tennis, and you could too if you played them a little longer. Red Steel and Far Cry were poorly made, and are not accurate representations of the Wii controllers capabilities. In all of the games I have played the motion detection is great. I have yet to hear of the PS3's motion detection being utilized in any way other than using it to spin in sports games.

The 360 launch line up was graphically more impressive than the PS3 launch line up and the PS3 has come out a YEAR LATER. The 360 had tons more, better games at launch. All the multiplatform games so far have been better on 360. Apart from Resistance the PS3 has nothing that compares to the 360. Even then people have said that graphically Resistance isn't exactly next gen standards. Gears online is way better than Resistance's. It is the closest any console game has come to emulating the teamwork and addictiveness of Counterstrike. It requires close communication and teamwork (something not possible on PS3) and offers something completely unique.
Looking at your xbox.com profile you don't seem to have played much of Gears online at all. I can only assume you tried it, got beat pretty bad and couldn't be bothered to learn how to play it. Clearly then it is not your skill in question but the game's fault.

a's right. You can slam balls in Wii tennis. You just have to flick the controller in the right way. Actually, the more I've played Wii tennis, the more subtle variations on how to apply english to the ball become apparent.
