"BULL - Considering you get a Blue Ray player it is CHEAP!"
I think its safe to say that the Critic was looking for a game machine with the PS3, not a machine to play movies in a format that Sony can control, which is basically why they developed it. It doesn't do anything gaming wise basically that the cheaper Xbox 360 already can't do, in fact the 360 has the advantage with the superior online portion and controller.
" Terrible launch that was delayed several times
BULL - Just as good as the 360's. Delayed several times? Who cares."
Not really, fact is the PS3 was delayed. The PS3 saw mostly junk, a few ports of decent Xbox 360 titles like Call of Duty 3 (That don't equal the 360 versions graphically), and Resistance. The 360 had a decent number of solid exclusives for the system at launch.
"Perhaps but the Wii's motion detection isn't that immersive anyway. Have you tried "slamming" a ball in Wiisports tennis? Can't do it! How about the wonderful control for Red Steel and Farcry - pathetic! Wow! I can really swordfight in Red Steal - NOT!"
Poor programming in Red Steel and Far Cry doesn't mean there are any issues with the Wii controller, nor does the fact that you can't slam a ball in tennis. Those are game issues, not hardware issues.
"- Overhyped. Sony said it would be revolution, but just offers better-looking version of standard games
Bull - this system is amazing."
To use your terminology, Bull. It's not doing anything better than the cheaper and less powerful Xbox 360 can't already do better as far as games are concerned.
"Not sure but how the hell would you know or why would you care "Mr. I hate online play. By the way, Resistance online play (not co-op) is ten time better then Gears."
Lame arguement, I don't have to have raced a Lotus 49b Formula One car in 1967 to be able to tell you that the car was fragile and broke easily. The fact that the PS3 online portion is weaker than the 360 is something easily gleaned from research, the Critic doesn't have to have had tried it.
"- Not 100% backwards compatible and does not support old peripherals
- This can be fixed and will be. Many more games backward compatible then the 360 at launch."
The Xbox 360 was never advertised at any point as fully backwards compatible, the PS3 was. And not all issues can be fixed, especially as far as peripherals go. The fact that titles with problems number in the hundreds and include some of the best selling PSOne and PS2 titles can only be seen as a negative. Same as the fact that the games look worse than when played on a PS2. Disappointing at best so far.
"I like your site but only put any faith on old reviews. Somewhere along the line I think you lost your objectivity and I am not sure if I can trust a person who hates Sony as much as you do."
Replace hates with love, and you basically just described yourself as far as the users here can tell.
Stating out issues that actually exists that many feel are legitimate problems is in no way losing your objectively. Slamming someone because they're pointing these facts out despite your own love for the console isn't being objective.
