Add the release year to the console drop down menus on the website?

Postby Verm3 » August 13th, 2019, 2:04 am

Just something that little crossed my mind.

Howe's about adding the release year to the console drop down menus on the website, to make it clear why they are in the order they are in (i.e why they aren't listed in alphabetical order etc)?

Not a bad idea! What do the rest of you think?

So it would be like
1977 Atari 2600
or
Atari 2600 (1977)
?

Try it both ways for a few days and then throw up a poll. :D

I think you can just go with the last two digits of the year of the release, e.g. "77 - Atari 2600". The decade is already listed in the respective menu text. That is what I went with to make it appear clean and uncluttered.

Personally I think it would look more cluttered so I wouldn't be in favor of it. Also, there's a few systems where the release date is a little ambiguous or disputed, like the 7800.

That said, if it is done, I think it's a toss up between "Atari 2600 (1977)" or Terry's suggestion of "77 - Atari 2600". I think I prefer the parentheses version just a bit.
