It seems to anger me that a game from a movie or TV show turns bad. Those games are bad. It is games like Back to the Future, Home Alone, etc... that wind up bad. I think the Disney movies that are turned into games turn good because they have the rights to games that are made from their movies. Now to TV. The Simpsons is the only one I think that tries to make a good game every year. The games from 1991 ti 1995 or 96 were made by Acclaim or any of the side companies for Sega's consoles until 1994. The games were for the NES, Super NES, Genesis, Game Boy, and Game Gear in America. The Master System games were made in Europe and Brazil so you can not find them in America. The games are crappy and did not sell well but I like the show. I have the Hit and Run game for PS2 and it is at least one good game. The one thing I hate is the Nickelodeon games. They try to make one with all the characters from shows that were still being made or their own show games. I think they are like The Simpsons and dont sell well. There is a tiny bit of advertising and then dont say anything if it was good or anything. For example: the immature, dumb, holds hands with his friend who is a guy SquarePants loser gets games made but dont sell well. There should be some reviews about the games made from films and TV although I have seen some reviews but there should be more

E.T. on the Atari 2600 (it was good, dagummit).
Spiderman on the N64 (Better than the PS1 version, despite the presence of cut-scenes in that one).
I also disagree with Alienblue. I think that many people do want to play a comic book/movie/TV-based game. I know people who swoon over each new Spiderman video game, for instance.
Personally, I'd love to have a lighthearted comical 3D game based on the Munsters.

Blue I'm pretty sure alien trilogy and goldeneye are not "recent" movie to game tie ins. But are very good games though, haven't played them in years though.

Always remember: the hardcore is not the determining factor in sales you might think it is. Everyone I know that has spent time working in a Gamestop (or similar) says that these types of games sell above all others:
1. Gangsta (*puke*)
2. WWII games
3. Sports
4. Licensed junk-ola.
With the exception of the WWII games (which I feel have some nice side benefits regarding history and so forth, and are usually well done), these are easy "profit centers" for the big developers. Just slap some tried and true gameplay (or just tired) and dress up the graphics with your licensed IP, and "booyah," you have yourself a game.
This phenomenon is undoubtedly worse when you're dealing with games that use IP from kid's movies and shows. Batman Begins HAD to be decent, because the people seeing that movie were more likely to be discerning gamers.
Not that I always mind the more simplistic gameplay that licensed games provide. They can be a good break from games like Gears of War, where I have yet to actually do well in the online multiplayer. Most of the Star Wars: Episode III iterations were good, simple fun.

Nah, the recent Disney games are pretty bad. They were good back in the days when Capcom and Sega made them. Try Goof Troop for the SNES, an excellent adventure/puzzle hybrid that really shoud've been ported to the GBA along with Aladdin and the Mickey Mouse games (Critic, you should give it a review).
While I haven't personally played them, I think the Spongebob games are supposed to be rather good for licensed games. The Simpsons games all suck, though, with the possible exception of Bartman Meets Radioactive Man for the NES.
But yeah, licensed games generally turn out bad, since the producers know they'll sell well no matter how sloppy a job they do on them. There have been exceptions, but they're fairly uncommon. In addition to those bluemonkey mentioned, the recent Spider-Man movie tie-ins were fairly good (and certainly better than the Lord of the Rings games he put on the list).

Yeah, I say Nintendo and Sega's Disney games are good. I have The Lion King both 16-bit versions, and the Genesis Jungle Book and Toy Story. I say those games were great. I agree that although I love The Simpsons as a show, the games sure do suck. I mean, why would some game company want to make a game out of a live-action show, mainly Disney shows. They would just completely suck. I mean films and shows into games have been a problem since 1981-82. E.T. was one the games that caused the Crash of 83. Then with the NES and Sega Genesis and Super NES comes these pathetic attempts of the games of Back to the Future, Friday the 13th, The Simpsons, Home Alone, Ren and Stimpy, Hook, Bram Stroker's Dracula, Cliffhanger, Alien and all other crap. I say the 16-bit Disney games done well. Nickelodeon shows into games are pathetic. Mainly now it is games like Spongebob and groups of characters from different shows. I mean with games like Ren and Stimpy for consoles and handhelds, they try to do fun ways to make it act like the show. In my opinion of todays fims and shows into games, they will suck. I mean it is a film or TV show being made into a game by a company who has not seen it yet and it winds up failing. Face it, that market of games suck

I love the arcade Simpsons game. It was my favorite beat 'em up game until Viewtiful Joe came along.
