Postby ASalvaro » September 4th, 2019, 3:28 am

as far as sequel's i was playing Galaga 88 on my xbox 360 tonight and man what a GREAT game..probably the best sequel of a classic game i've ever played

i like the updated Time Pilot a lot on the xbox 360..they kept the same game play but updated the graphics

i also enjoy Neo Mr Do on the Neo Geo..basically the same game play but with a lot of extras and spruced up graphics

On the game front Halo 2 easily surpassed Halo: Combat Evolved. Better maps and online multiplayer really amped up the game.

On the movie front Empire Strikes Back surpasses Episode 4: A New Hope. :D

I like remakes that modernize the game’s visuals and mechanics but still stay true to the original. Ratchet and Clank (PS4) and Resident Evil 2 (PS4, XB1, PC) are two that come to mind.

But I can also appreciate remakes that take the time to fix problems with the original. Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA) lengthened the original game, gave it a map, allowed Samus to shoot enemies on the ground and gave it a beautiful 16 bit-esque graphics upgrade. I’m tempted to put Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth (WiiWare) in this category, too, but it’s so far removed from the Game Boy original, it would be difficult to justify.

I have yet to play the RE2 remake, but it is definitely on my list.

But there is a similar answer to the question from me, remake is the GameCube version of Resident Evil. The graphics, story enhancement, and gameplay enhancement (While still being the original kind of funky control and camera style) really make it an A game.

Then the sequel is RE4. The changes to the engine are fantastic, the gameplay is still super fun to this day, and for the most part they've stayed with the RE4 formula ever since. While I haven't played the later ones, I did play RE5 all the way through and still prefer RE4. Mercenary mode on its own is super fun. It really gave that series the update it was needing.
