i would still consider taking a wii online with dialup, but only for web browsing and VC purchases.

My best bet for Wii Online?

As someone said a Satellite connection is awful for online gaming.  It is possible for downloads that it can work reasonably well (though to be honest it sucks for TCP connections so even if latency isn't your issue it won't be great) but for online gaming the massive delay just makes it pointless.

I'm pretty sure you can get it connected using the USB-lan adapter.  Your PC mostly likely will have a nic - plug into there - connect via dial-up then start the hard part.

Getting your wii to think the pc contains the internet connection.  You may have to do some playing to get it to work but there's no reason it wouldn't.

I seem to recall a having a similar issue with Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast working with a dial up connection only when you've got just a broadband connection.  There were work arounds available using Windows networking setup pieces to get it to go.  As a result, doing the opposite - broadband to dial-up connection should be feasible.  If you get stuck and google doesn't provide the answer send me an email.  We should be able to get it to work.

Thanks for all the input. I'll look into a few different things, I just didn't know if the wireless dongle could detect what your connection speed was and deny you access. I'm not exactly a grind when it comes to this sort of thing, so I'd thought I'd get some advice before I spent the money. Thanks again.

It doesn't, like I said it works fine with the hardware and software already, with the DS, and the Wii will be connecting exactly the same.

And its very easy to use, once you plug it into a USB port you'll be up and running in a couple of minutes, unless for some reason the Wii refuses to connect to something that doesn't meet some minimum speed.

The Wii could timeout.

I looked a little further into this at the Nintendo Forums, and I guess that while it can be done, the shop channel automaticaly clocks out 56k users, rendering that service useless. So, I'll just forget it. Would have been nice to get some Super Nintendo games, but I guess I can't say I am too surprised. And probably don't have much of a right to be.
