Out of the loop?

Does anyone else feel, like me, kinda "Out of the loop" these days, what with every other post being about PS3/Wii/X360? I have no intention of getting ANY of these systems right away, finances make it tough for me to afford one PS2 OR DS game a month. It will likely be 2-4 years before I get one of these (probably Wii) and by THEN everyone will be talking nextgen again!

Most people here own multile systems and most of the time the forums are pretty balanced, but the hype over Nextgen and Nextgen games (Gears, Raving Rabbids, etc...) doesn't leave me with much to say or be interested in....the only current gen systems I own are DS and the rapidly aging PS2...how do the rest of you non - nextgen owners feel? Hey, how about that Atari 2600 Stargate huh?

You could always check out atari age, it's full of raging asses that will defend their system to the death (wii, jaguar) but...well yeah it's there.

I feel good to know that sometime in 2010 I can be buying all this stuff for $15.

Growing up, I could never afford more than 1 system at a time. In fact, I usually sold the old one to get a new one. Even if I could, my parents wouldn't allow it. Well, I'm 'all grown up' now, and it still feels excessive to have more than one system at a time (my younger brother has a Wii and 360, so go figure).

I know it's a hobby, and i'm not arguing, but a room with thousands of dollars of 'entertainment' seems too much for me.

im feeling out of the loop as i dont really enjoy many modern 3D games. 3D shooters, platforms, and adventure games all share the same element of easily getting me lost in the environment. i couldnt even get through a few levels of mario 64 before being frustrated. so im not exactly chomping at the bit to pick up a 360 or PS3.

Chrisbid....You and I think alike. I HATE 3-D games (except racing games), and would actually rather play IKARI WARRIORS than GEARS OF WAR! Give me a top-down shooter or side scroller anyday.

I held off getting a DS , but the great titles like Polarium and Feel The Magic and Zookeeper convinced me it was a 2-D on the go system and relatively cheap as well!

I would love a PSP but cannot afford it. Same for the Wii.
A funny thing has happened in trying to sell old systems to buy new ones; in the NES era I had no problem getting $150 for my NES and 5 games, but I could not get even $30 for my PSone and SIX games to get a PS2 (thankfully someone gave me a PS2!) - people don't seem to WANT old systems anymore. I cannot even get ten bucks for my complete-in-box DS / GBA games! ):

You old school guys need to take the initiative and post some old-school related threads! People on this site will engage in conversation about systems from any era, but somebody has to start the conversation.

I own a 360 and Wii, yet the impact that it has on my finances is rather minimal. I'm not into cars, so I only require a decent one that can "get me there." I don't like to hang out in bars/nightclubs, where you can spend an unbelievable amount of money per week (some people spend the cost of a 360/PS3 game + a DS game per week on partying!).

I make a pretty minimal salary at this point in my life, so I ain't rich, nor do I live above my means. It's just a matter of prioritizing for some people.

Which PS1, DS, and GBA games are you trying to sell?
