I collect many videogame systems and have over 25, but I prefer the older ones most of the time (the Saturn, PS2 and a few others are nice systems too though). I normally just switch off every few weekends. I play older games/systems one weekend and newer ones the next, that way all my systems get love and I stay "in the loop" for the newer systems (It stimulates interest in researching/buying new games for them if you constantly play them.) I only keep up with newer systems for adventure, survival horror, and some shooters other than that, I don't normally care for newer stuff.

Out of the loop?
Like the Critic said, if you want old school discussions, lead the way! I'll throw out a possible topic: old school "war" or "shooter" games, like Contra, Ikari Warriors, Gunstar Heroes, Iron Tank, etc.. Iron Tank was one of the first NES games I ever rented years ago and I've been wanting to go back and play it again, especially since I never beat it back in the day. Until I can get my NES cured of the blinkies, I'll have to resort to emulation, however.

I do have a decent collection of stuff myself, but there is a limit to what I can do; while I would love to have Dave's mammoth collection (and it truly is awe inspiring; look at the "Contra Championship" in the special section of the site to see what I'm talking about), it wouldn't be practical to me, not because of money, but because I couldn't possibly organize all that stuff!
I notice the Critic is very organized, his game room appears quite tidy (other than the inevitable rats nest of cords, but that's hard to prevent). There is no way I could be that organized )-:

I've never owned an Atari 2600, but if you post some NES or Genesis threads I would be more than happy to discuss games. I could use a break from defending Wii anyway.
