Does anyone that early area, when he/she first played video games? My first games were, I guess, Wolfenstein 3D, Prince of Persia and... the Commander Keen series. Recently I "discovered" a Commander Keen game had been released for the Gameboy Color! I just received it, but I'm too afraid to actually play since I have the feeling it will be huge disappointment... anyone else know this game?

"FIRST PLAYED VIDEOGAMES"!!!??? Dude, we are NOT ALL young 20 somethings on here! I am 40 and was a sesoned player by the time I played Commander Keen! MY early games were Tank, Pong and Target Fun!

But yeah, I had a Win 3.1 PC , used DOS for games mostly (windows games cost me $79 to reinstall WIN after crashing!) .... anyway, I though Comanderr Keen was ok but ugly graphics. Somewhat better graphics were the first Duke Nukem (another side scroller, not the 3-D game) and Captain Comic. All of these games were PC shareware attempts to cash in on the Super Mario craze. I think Captain Comic was the best.

Wasn't C.Keen also an obscure NES game translation?

You are partly correct Alien. John Carmack and John Romero wanted to make a port of Mario 3 for the PC, since Carmack had figured out how to accomplish smoorth scrolling on the PC hardware (a critical stumbling block at the time). They created an exact duplication of the first level of the game, sent it to Nintendo, and basically got a letter back saying, "we don't care about PCs."

Hence, Commander Keen.

I <3 Bio Hazard and the first two Duke Nukems. I also liked the Hugo trilogy and Nomad.

Some of my first games ever were Commander Keen, Lemmings, Doom and Duke Nuke Em. I liked my dad's old DOS computer a lot. Until I got an NES and subsequent Sega Genesis, that is...
