Profanity filter back on "full"

Postby VideoGameCritic » January 17th, 2007, 9:00 pm

I lowered the threshold of the profanity filter a few weeks back, and I'm kind of disgusted about some of the messages I've seen since.  Some of the phrases that are getting through are very crude, and are bringing  down the board to the level of an eighth-grade schoolyard.  Let's maintain a certain level of decorum people.

So can I still say "sucks monkey nuts" or do I have to settle with "bleech"?

Agree completely and thanks for doing that. That's a good part of what seperates this board from some others.

Maybe you could put a list somewhere of what is and is not acceptable language?

You could jus say "expletive", like The Critic does in his reviews.

I tried, but the profanity filter didn't let me.

Just to get you started though, he are a few words that you definitely can use: car, ice cream, fireman, baseball, they, book, picture, the, lamp, floor, rug, pixel, paper.

... and many more!

I'll never understand the taboo on swearing here, seriously it's not like kids (excluding koopa) come here anyway.

I think the Critic just wants his site to be a clean and respectable place that anyone feels comfortable to visit.

I for one am glad he keeps it that way.  I think that it forces you to be more thoughtful and intelligent when you post, rather than just spouting the "F"word 25 times.
