Profanity filter back on "full"
So can I still say "sucks monkey nuts" or do I have to settle with "bleech"?
Unless Sega comes out with a Super Monkey Nuts game (which is probably not out of the question), that subject will remain taboo.

Sega Saturn X : Profanity is the reason I quit reading EGM. It is boring and juvenile. It has nothing to do with being an adult. There is no shortage of  fratboy gaming message boards and magazines, (not to metion most videogames in general), so its nice to have a few that aren't.

I'll never understand the taboo on swearing here, seriously it's not like kids (excluding koopa) come here anyway.
It's not appropriate for "adults" to swear, either.

Now I see why you think "mature" games are those with profanity.

Again, one of the reasons this is the only forum that I visit on a regular basis. It's run with a sense of decency that is not found in many other places on the net.

I agree. I used to cuss up a storm when I was about fifteen but I cannot go about my daily life using that language. Granted, I still cuss but in extreme moderation. I wouldn't come here if the F bomb was allowed to be thrown around freely as it makes people seem extremely juvenile and, in all actuality, kind of pathetic(no offense to anybody on here that does that, but it really is true). Besides, I'd rather hear "Sony sucks" or "MS sucks" that Sony can bite a $#@% with a $@%@ bit of my #@%#." I'm wondering, what kind of adult equates swearing with maturity, anyway?! Once again, no offense, but it seems sort of misguided.

I had a boss whom I respected a great deal, and he told me that swearing is a classless activity, and it's a shallow mind's way of expressing itself. That stuck with me.

In all seriousness, I REALLY appreciate the non @#$%'ing profanity rule. I was abused by my stepfather and also school kids as a child, and whenever I was beaten or beat up it was accompined by profuse profanity. As an adult I still actually cringe when someone gets angry and swears (in real life) , it is just an automatic reaction.

I believe people can be civilized and debate and argue without cussin'. Dang straight! Besides, if someone refutes what you say and you come back saying "Aw you F'ing @#$%!, go @#$! yourself!"
it just makes YOU look like a loser and extremely juvenile.

Swearing sux!

I like swearing. I wish it was an event somewhere because I could get a medal with a little practice for sure!

I've known dozens and dozens of smart people, folks I have a great deal of respect for who swear on a regular basis.  That in no way makes them less smart or less articulate.  I swear frequently and no one who knows me in person would ever call my inarticulate or simple.
