Winter Games

Postby VideoGameCritic » January 19th, 2007, 4:08 pm

Well we're finally expecting a little snow on Sunday in Maryland, which is pretty exciting considering it's been a balmy winter.  Since I like to play games "in season", I'll be looking to play games with plenty of snow and ice.  What games do you guys like to play during a snowstorm?

Right off the top of my head the only game that comes to mind it The Thing.  Sci-Fi horror on the artic tundra...seriously its an amazing squad based game that is actually a sequel to the 1982 film of the same name.  I know you like playing horror games during Halloween, but this is more action based...you can pick the game up brand new for $10 or less these days.  I love playing it once there is snow on the ground.  Go buy now.

Do it...no,no seriously do it...seriously...do it...

Snowboard kids 1 and 2 are the only things that immediately come to mind. I tend to play winter games before Christmas, though. After that I'm not really into seeing snow in a game, even if there is a bunch outside.

I bought SSX 3 a little while back and have been waiting for some snow to get me in the mood to play it.  Unfortunately, where I live we don't get many snowstorms anymore.  We're lucky to get one decent snowfall a year.  But we are supposed to get 4 - 6 inches of snow this weekend.  If that happens, I'll probably break out SSX 3 and play it on Sunday.

ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY? Oh sorry, rhetorical question.

I live in Maine and the last thing I want is to be reminded that there's four feet of snow, slippery ice, and the wind chill is 20 below zero Farenheit and I HAVE NO CAR! Brrr... give me a summer
themed game!

However, if you WANT snowy games, I'm surprised no one remembers Slalom on the NES. That was a funny and cool Skiing game even if you don't like Skiing! The coin-op was even better.

That and WINTERGAMES, 2600- wow, that looks like the C64 version, I kid you not!

Sudz.... I live in ROCKLAND, MAINE ... so called because in the early 20th century they dug Limestone here, shipped out on boat at ROCKPORT, the next town over. I have lived in this one town my whole crummy 40 year life, moving 16 times but always within town! (though I had long distance relationships and used to travel when I had a car...ex wife was from Texas originally but moved to WATERVILLE....other GFs were in Lewiston, South Paris, Cape Neddick...all South of here.) Sanford...I've heard that name but don't know where...oh yeah, on TV! Sanford & Sons!

Anyway yes IT IS COLD HERE.

But others are colder. I know two VGC posters that live in Canada and one in ALASKA! Brrrrrrr!
