Anticipated games? What games? The Wii's line-up is extremely weak for 2007. Check out these chart busters for the first quarter of 2007:

Really? If you don't like mini-games, Zelda, Mario or Metroid, why would you buy one?

I'm done arguing with you about this Shawn. There is plenty more on the Wii, but it is clear you will never give it a chance. This is my last post in reponse to you saying the Wii has no games.

Q1 IS pathetic, there really isn't any getting around that.

Ok, if that is the case then where are all the games for the Wii? Remove Mario and Metroid and please tell me where are the games to buy for the Wii in 2007? I want to buy one but it seems I could wait till 2008 and not miss out on anything? And where are the NEW VC games? I want  to see new games like those available for XBox live not everything from the NES days! I don't see one new game available for the VC? I think this is GC all over again! No online plays, no third party support and NO new franchises! I challenge you people to convince me otherwise!

I think Nintendo's first party games more than outweigh the 3rd party and Sony/Microsoft exclusives I will miss. But I realise most people own multiple consoles, have other interest, etc. I focus on Nintendo simply because I enjoy their efforts far and above other developers. There is a limit to the time I can spend gaming and the money I care to spend, and that dictates what I buy. But  we all have are own tastes and it is not my goal to be a video game missionary, lol.

-I agree with your minigame statement. I hope developers start programing with a larger vision for origional games, and not just marry old game mechanics to the wiimote. Focus on what the Wimote can do better, not just on what it can do different, or worse.

-I think this will happen, look how long it took the DS to get going. And the Wimote has much more potential than the stylus.

-And let's face it, most people who have bought Nintendo home consoles the last ten years have been the hardcore fans and  primarily buy Nintendo games. This is not a good situation for a smaller third party dev to be in.

-Wii has much more going for it than GC, and I loved my GC. So I am not concerned.

Whoa...chill out for a sec Shawn.  The Wii has been out for a whopping 3 months.  The online play is on the way, the VC is doing fine and there are more games to be announced in the upcoming months.  Besides I would rather pay hard earned money for legendary games like Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Mario World any day than get a handful of "new" VC games.

Also Nintendo has something that Sony and Microsoft covet...bankable quality franchises that are unique to their systems.  If you don't like the fact that Nintendo has top quality 1st party software, then just don't buy it.  Maybe the 3rd party stuff will come, maybe it won't.  These things take time.  You can start complaining in January 08...until then...be cool.

In the Q1 2007 there are 5 games that I have interest in...Godfather, Warioware, Tiger Woods, MK Armageddon and Sonic.  Warioware is already getting rave reviews and I expect Tiger Woods to be decent.  Sonic will probably suck, but I remain casually optimistic.  The Godfather looks like a ton of fun...beating people up with Wiimote is interesting enough...MK Armageddon could be decent...ripping out spines with Wiimote also = interesting in my book.  Sure these aren't killer apps, but they will help round out my library during the slow winter months.

Before you freak out and say the Wii is doomed, take a deep breathe, relax go play a little Gears and come back when you mellow out.

I'll agree with that, but Shawn is basing his opinion of the games the Wii will have in 2007 solely off of that quarter. There are plenty of Virtual Console games and DS games to fill my time until later in the year. Where are the Q1 PS3 games? Where were the 360 games? The first quarter after launch is pathetic for every system.

The godfather game sucks it's a port of a crappy game that got panned all last year.  And mortal kombat is just a newer port of yet another bad game.  I can't fathom why you guys are getting excited over a bunch of half assed ports.

And about shawns "If you get rid of mario and metroid you have nothing" stuff.  We aren't getting rid of them because they exsist and will always exsist no matter how much we will them not to.  So saying "if they didn't" is stupid and pointless.  And honestly I really hope mario galaxy is the end all bw all mario game because if it's not I can't think of any reason to buy a wii.  And in all honesty I would much rather turn off all the wiimote stuff and play with the game cube controller but since that isn't going to happen they better make the controls and camera perfect.

I agree with you on that. I could give less of a crap about most of the ports coming to Wii. I do think Sonic has potential, and Warioware will make a fine rental, but other than that I'm just waiting on quarter 2 (I will buy Wii Play, but mainly because it's a $50.00 game with a Wii remote included; I'm sure it's worth at least $10).

I think the new Mario looks incredible. I thought Sunshine was a bit of a disappointment, but the setting in Galaxy, plus the lack of a water hose, makes my hopes really high for this one. Even if it isn't the greatest game ever Mario platformers are always good, so I'm sure it will be a worthwhile purchase no matter what.

I was thinking that Nintendo seemed to be using their star games up pretty fast, and I was wondering what you guys think they'll have in line for 2008. I'm betting on Mario Kart, a new Pikmin (that game begs for Wii remote incorporation), and maybe even a new Pilotwings. Are there any Nintendo franchises I'm forgetting?

If I was a Nintendo fan I would be worried. What you are looking  at here is GC2 if the Wii doesn't get better third party support. There are plenty of games coming out for the PS3 but this isn't about that. Yes, Wario is getting rave reviews, yes, it's ANOTHER party game for the Wii (three in three months) which seems to be the only genre the control scheme is good for. Ok, that's not totally fair b/c the Zelda and Madden control is cool. Anyway, I know it's only the first quarter so you are right, it's not the right time to judge but to be honest, 2007 doesn't look that good. So once Nintendo releases all of its VC gems what will they do then? By the way, there are plenty of Microsoft and Sony franchises that Nintendo wish it had such as Gears, Halo, DMC, etc, etc. In fact, most people prefer these franchises, hasn't Sony kicked Nintendo's ass for the last ten years?

One thing to ponder regarding lack of third party support: b/c the Wii is so grossly overpowered by the 360 and PS3 3rd pary developers can't port games very easily over to the Wii. I mean, basically the Wii is getting PS2 ports! Wow! I can't wait to play Driver on the Wii. So that leaves developers making games exclusively for the Wii which is expensive and risky. I don't know, this is just a thought. Take Medal of Honor: Airborne for example. It was due out on the Wii but EA scrapped it b/c the Wii couldn't handle it so what are they doing now? Putting out a MOH that will also be available on the PS2. Scary stuff if you ask me.
