Add your Wii impressions, anticipated games

The problem with your train of thought Shawn is that you are treating the Wii like a 360 or PS3...as hard as it is not to compare them, you really can't.  I've come to grips with the fact that I will be doing a lot of gaming on systems that aren't called a Wii.  I feel that there is nothing wrong with that.

So far the Wii has been a success in my eyes.  I play it...I enjoy it...others play with me...good times are had by all.  I have already given up on caring about the graphics on the system.  You can still have worse graphics and the game can turn out much better then the prettier next gen game (cough...Madden) and this is why I don't worry about the Wii.

Slightly above average games like The Godfather or MK Armageddon have that outside chance to be great on the Wii.  That is the only reason I have any interest in them.  Same goes for the Prince of Persia game.  These are games that I past up the first time they came out, but would be willing to give them a shot if the controls work for the game.  Because thats what the Wii offers that the other systems don't....a chance at having really outstanding, unique controls that can really enhance the enjoyment of a game.  Do I wish that Zelda had a world that looked like Kameo...Hell yea I do...but its not gonna happen so I get over it and I focus on what the system does best...Offer a really unique gameplay experiences.

The Wii isn't Gamecube 2.0...its successful launch and general acceptance as a console have already assured that.  I feel the Wii is off to a fine start and the more successful it becomes the more support it will get.

If you actually pay 50 dollars for the godfather or mortal kombat you deserve what you get.  The both suck this has been well known since both came out.  Being on the wii isn't going to make them any less awful.  At least get over excited about games that may actually be decen't, not ports that are just padding out publishers release lists.
Not yet.  Thanks for the suggestions!  Anyone else having problems finding additional controllers?
There are several here.  I see them in several different chains.  If you still can't find any, and would like me to pack and ship, I am more than willing to do so.
Thanks for the offer m0zart.  I really appreciate it.  I'll do some more searching around here first before taking you up on it as it's a pretty big inconvenience.  Where are you located?

Wah Wah Wah...Could you complain any more?  Last time I checked I'm a grown man and I can make my own choices about what games to try and what not to.  Do I care if the Godfather and MK Armageddon are A+ titles...Hell no.  Will I still give them a shot if the mood strikes me?  Hell yes.  Why should I listen to someone who doesn't even own a Wii?  I would much rather listen to "a" who at least has rationale thoughts on the subject at hand.

Gamerankings lists the Godfather with a 78% and MK Armageddon received the same grade.  Last time I checked a C+ game isn't what I would call critically panned...or sucks.  I believe the college term is, "slightly above average".  As a game collector I really don't care if I add two more slightly above average games into my collection.  Unlike you I'm unafraid to take chances and no I don't always believe what I read from the media.  Sometimes you take risks that go against the grain and they work out.  Not every game has to be a A in my book to buy.

Really outstanding unique controls? You mean just like in FPS? What a joke. It is not just the graphics that will suffer but it is they types of games that are going to suffer due to the Wii's lack of horsepower. It's not a big concern now but when the novelty of the control wears off people are going to look for more substantive games which they may or may not get. It is too early to tell and it is off to a good start. I just hope there is more then the Big N franchises on the Wii then in years past. If not, it WILL be GC 2.0.

I'm sorry, but there are more genres that exist other than FPS...which is probably my least favorite genre next to racing.  Metroid Prime could get a A+...10, five stars whatever and I still wouldn't buy it.  The industry does not live and die by the FPS genre.

I would considered the controls in Tiger Woods to be outstanding...I would much rather perform a swinging motion than tap a button or mash an analog stick.  Zelda has fun intuitive controls that really work.  Madden is an absolute blast.  Tossing a cow in Rayman is greatly enhanced by the Wiimote.  Warioware is fun because of the controls...I could go on.

I'm sure people are still waiting for novelty of the stylus controls to wear off for the DS too.  The Wii is not gimmicky and the controls can make the difference in certain games.  Who are you trying to convice that the Wii is bad?  Nobody on these forums that owns one is going to listen to you.

Shawn, you keep going on and on about the franchises that Nintendo wishes it had, that Nintendo has exhausted their "few" remaining franchises, etc. But let me ask you, if most of the good third parties decided to take their properties with them, where would that leave Sony or MS? Nintendo has one advantage over the other two, and that IS THEIR FRANCHISES! Sony has a few, as does MS, but not like Nintendo has. Besides, why are you so against Nintendo doing it but not against Sony's four+ Grand Turismo titles in the past eight years?! In eight years, between the years of 1996 and 2002, Nintendo released only TWO Mario titles, ONE Mario Kart, 2 Metroids(Fusion and Prime), 2 Smash Bros titles, etc. Also, this GC2.0 crap is along the same lines as your comparisons of the DS to the Virtual Boy(I think it was you, along with many others, who unfairly compared the two)!! I'm sorry, as I am about to go off on the Shawn again, but why is it so important to you that they fail? You slammed the Critic for chastising Sony, though it is clear that he has been very favorable to all things Sony/Nintendo/Sega/etc., but yet you do absolutely nothing but criticize Nintendo and show no signs of ever having been any sort of fan of theirs. I could care less if you liked them or not but when you say stupid crap like "I like the DS but...." then turn around and call it a crap system, you sort of lose the little credibility you may have had. Think about it for a second, Shawn, what would happen if Nintendo took the bold step and abandoned all of their old franchises, what would happen? It would literally be suicide because there are three types of gamers today and those are...

1). People who prefer realistic, mature titles

2). People who only play sports titles(Madden, Tiger, etc.)

3). People who support Nintendo for their franchises.

It sounds stupid, I know, but what are the top selling titles? GTA? MGS? Halo? Gears of War? Zelda? One of those titles doesn't fit with the other four and I'm sure you all can guess which one that is. I'm sorry, Shawn, but you are going to despise them no matter what they do, unless they have THE BEST GRAPHICS, maybe a "mature(lol!)" game for you to sink your teeth into and, for the love of all that is holy, NO MORE NINTENDO FRANCHISES! Listen up, Nintendo, you'll have ONE MORE CUSTOMER IF YOU JUST STOP MAKING THE GAMES THAT BROUGHT YOU A LOYAL FANBASE IN THE FIRST PLACE! Design a ripoff of Gears of War and make a more powerful system, please! Lol! Give me a friggin' break!

I am not saying the Wii is bad, I just don't think it has the "legs" under it for the long haul. If you guys like it that is all that counts, I don't have  the energy to bash Nintendo anymore.

Because, you see, Shawn and I have a wager.  I stated Nintendo will sell the most consoles globably within a year's time, followed by the 360, and coming up in the rear will be Sony.  So, you see it's in Shawn's best interest to flood the intertubes with as much Wii bashing as possible.  Shawn thinks there's a small chance he'll win the bet by such trickery.  But we all know who will win the bet.

With only 9 months left Metal Wolf Chaos will be mine!  <insert evil laugh here>
