I love how people here defend nintendo like they are going to win something. How is it the gamers fault they couldn't get there act together? It isn't, and we shouldn't be punished that they couldn't keep the cube from floundering. That is bar none the biggest reason I'm avoiding the wii. Forget the gimmicks and ports, I just don't trust them anymore. They did the same thing with the 64 as well. And if things foul up on the wii (it's early in the day still) I don't see why they wont ditch it either. Keep making excusses for a company they wouldn't think twice before screwing you over. Not to say sony or microsoft care, but I never see hoards of people defend the ass things they do.
The game cube was a laughing stock for this reason, it had nothing. Stop defending nintendo for screwing over the people who supported them on their biggest console failure to date.
You're right, it was their biggest console failure. SO WHY ARE YOU SURPRISED THEY ABANDONED IT? Anyway, whatever few fans they had were clearly used to getting 3 games a year, so I doubt they were too surprised when some games were moved to Wii. I also think you're underestimating the amount of casual gamers. There are far more average gamers than hardcore.

Hey a did it cross your mind that it was their biggest failure BECAUSE THEY ABANDONED IT? Of course there are more average games but the cube didn't have the games that type likes so it's kind of a non point.

I think you and ssx are in the minority as far as fans angry about the lack of Gamecube support. I didn't mean that 21 million people was a few fans; I meant only a few were annoyed.
Well, first, me and SSX are on different pages of this particular book. This, along with a lot of other stuff, annoyed him so much that he doesn't even want a Wii. I did, and still very much do, want to purchase a Wii. However, I am just calling this what it is, and it is terrible. If I had bought an N64 and had endured the same thing that generation, I have to admit that I very likely would be jumping ship by now though. In fact, think about the numbers of units sold for the N64 compared to the Cube. 40 million vs. 21 million. Doesn't that look to you like the numbers you'd expect if this kind of treatment really did lead to a lot of consumers jumping ship? I think that the proof is already there that this kind of thing does not go unnoticed. Besides, wouldn't Nintendo also like to get some of the fans who bought Xboxes and PS2s this generation? Are those players any less likely to believe the "Nintendo systems get no games" thing now, having seen what happened to the Cube? Are soccer moms, seeing the meager racks of Gamecube games, likely to still assosciate Nintendo with games?
I think it may affect the Cube -->Wii transition less than it did the N64-->Cube one though. This is because the Wii is targeting an audience who probably didn't even play games last generation, and who won't mind the lack of Cube support. As well, they are offering something (sorry Bluemonkey and SSX), that is different enough to generate hype on its own. However, I do know that dropping Cube support early is very unlikely to help Wii sales anymore than they could have helped themselves anyway.

Hmm...no, that doesn't make any sense at all. Unless you think they abandoned it the moment they released it I'd say it was their biggest failure before they abandoned it.

They could have gained ground in the two year dead zone, not a reason they couldn't have. If they had dropepd some real AAA titles in that time span the cube would have done better. This is not a hard concept guys.
