Just curious, but when do you think the stores will be liquidating their PS2/GC/Xbox games? There's a ton of stuff of the past generation (Far Cry Instincts, Ninja Gaiden Black, Killer 7, Black, Devil May Cry 3) that I've been wanting to vulture out, rather than pay $20 for. (I was waiting forever for RE4 to drop to < $10, but I finally capitulated and got it for $20 last week.)

Any ideas when this will happen?

There are plenty of $5.00 PS2 games already if you're willing to buy used. I can't imagine stores will try to get rid of all of them for a quite a while, so I'd just check the used games and look on ebay.

The guy at EB last night said that given

the fact that Gamecube games work on the Wii,
and given how the graphics will be similar between the two consoles,
and given that the Wii is aiming for an audience that doesn't care for newest and shiniest,

then he thinks the first party Gamecube games may not drop much at all for quite some time.

Specifically though, he was sure the Wavebird controller would never drop, as, with the Wii being wireless otherwise, the Wavebird is basically the way to go for wireless VC games, wireless smash bros, and wireless Cube backwards compatability. That way you'd never need anything with wires for the Wii.

You just have to be willing to look. A ton of xbox stuff went on sale over the past 6 months. I've also seen some great gamecube deals. Toys R Us tends to have some really great deals. Here are some of the better deals I've found there recently.

Resident Evil 4 - $9.99 (Gamecube)

F-Zero GX - $9.99 (Gamecube)

Killer 7 - $7.99 (Gamecube)

Far Cry Instincts - $14.99 (Xbox)

Dragon Quest VIII - $14.99 (PS2)

Metal Slug 4/5 - $9.99 (PS2)

There were plenty more...I have found some really great deals there.

They already are for the Xbox. Infact I jsut bought 5 games for 25 bucks total from ebgames. Look here for some cheap games.

I'm sure you can find something in that list you like. But I'd wait until the 29th because rumor is, they will have a buy 2 get 1 free sale on xbox games. (Wish I new that before I bought my games.) Also, try to buy them in a store so you can find them with their manual in case. If you buy them online, there is no guarentee you will get them.

Around August or July of last year I found The Wind Waker factory sealed for 7.99 at K-Mart.
