Wario Smooth Moves....

This is the best rated Wii game at Gamespot at a 9.1. Gee.....

 

I played Warioware on the GameCube for about 15 minutes and thought it was worse than most of my 7800 games. I did not fall into the "love it" category, Oh... and before you ask, I was playing it with a budro. Can this game be THAT much different using a wand? I doubt it.

 

As I look at the line-up of games now for the Wii.... I'm scratching my head. I just don't think the system is gonna be the hit I thought it was going to be. After awhile, what can they release? Spanking simulators? A Yo-Yo game? Flipping Pancakes For Fun and Profit? I think the sails are gonna run out of wind after awhile. Everything released over three consoles will be severly crippled on the Wii. And where the hell is online play???

 

I thought the game was gonna feature a bunch of games that were console versions of DS hits like Kirby: Canvas Curse, etc. I'm just not feeling the line-up.

 

Oh, and how about a good sword fighting game? That's what the system was made for.

 

I guess I've saved me about $600+ by not getting caught up in the hype

Well there is always Mario Party 8, Driver (PS2 Port) and Medal of Vanguard (also available on the PS2). I have been saying this all along, the line-up is extremely weak. I think Nintendo is banking on the VC games and their first party games, same old...same old.

I have said this before, REMEMBER the "gimmicky" DS! When that first came out, people called the early games "tech demos" and thought it was laughable next to PPS. I tended to agree.

Then METEOS came out and was hyped up as one of the best puzzle games ever...ironically, the hype got me to purchase the DS even though I quickly bacame bored with METEOS- but thankfully some good freinds steered me towrds great game like WAIOWARE, FEEL THE MAGIC, ZOOKEEPER, and later KIRBYS CANVAS CURSE and , well, all I can say is I play DS more than any other of my 15+ systems!

I have no interest (or money..) in buying a next gen console right now but I think the Wii has GREAT potential...just wait! (I do wish they had kept the REVOLUTION name tho!)

Totally different situation their Blue and the DS was out a full year before the PSP was released. And let's be honest, the DS doesn't exactly use it's "innovative" features every time for its best games. I am not suggesting that it doesn't use them, just not all the time. The point is for it's best games one could argue that it uses very standard controls. I would hardly agree that FTM (lame and boring) or Zookeeper (very repetitive and easy) are the best examples to use.

*snore* A system has been out for a few months (to almost universal acclaim, massive sales, and record profits for Nintendo) and we are already making broad pronouncements of doom and gloom on the upcoming library? *yawn*

 

A silly debate, to be sure, as only time will tell.

 

However, since a few people here still think the DS stinks, even now, I somehow doubt a fantastic lineup will change the minds of the minority of people who seem bent on hating the system.

 

By the way, there is a full expectation that at the Game Developer's Conference next month that Miyamoto will announce a new channel for the Wii, that will feature fresh indie content like Xbox Live. This is a huge development for the system. After all, Wiicade.com has already shown us some solid, if simple, game design concepts using only the Wiimote and the A button. I can't wait to see what people will come up with if they have more access to the Wii's control setup.

Well, I don't think the early Wii lineup is exactly weak.  If you compare the DS and Wii launches and early games (and for that matter, the PS3 now), the difference is night and day.

 

The early DS games barely showed off the system's capabilities (although Sega's Feel the Magic was one exception), and until Kirby: Canvas Curse came out, most of Nintendo's games were either ports (Super Mario 64 DS), obvious tech demos (Pokemon Dash), or minigame collections (Wario Ware: Touched).

 

Nintendo certainly wised up with the Wii, and effectively showed off the system's unique techniques quite well.  And they certainly had a better launch lineup than with DS.

 

As far as we're concerned now, it's admittingly getting kind of limited.  It reminds me a bit of the post first holiday for Xbox 1; a couple of good games here and there, and things really heated up a little later that year. 

 

Nintendo does have Wario Ware out now, and there are quite a few good games from last year to play, as well. Try saying that about PS3 now or the DS back at its time.

 

Plus, there are some things that are looking promising that are coming out pretty soon, like Wii Play, Sonic and the Secret Rings, SSX Blur, Mario Party 8 and Cooking Mama: Cook Off.

 

So it seems that if you have a Wii, you have quite a few things you can play on it now (and don't forget about all those Gamecube games), and in that regard, it's certainly better than PS3.  So count your blessings.

Well I suppose I'll throw my two cents in this game seeing as I've actually played it.

I found it fun but I also liked all the other versions of wario ware except the gamecube version. I'll admit that one was weak because all it really offered was multiplayer... all the games I do believe showed up on the original GBA.

Smooth Moves has its own unique set of games and uses the Wii mote in ways I didn't really think of before. It's definitely played differently from the games in the past and it's tons of fun in short spurts. Also the inclusion of Mii's into the gameplay are neat and add to the party game atmosphere they are trying to achieve... also the game is very funny from the Form descriptions to the images on the screen.

So overall for me this was a pretty worthwhile purchase. And umm yeah who cares if all we're getting is mostly Nintendo games... 9 out of 10 times Nintendo games are good. They may not be the types of games you like but they are still good.
