Franchises run into the ground?
1). Mario Party(8 games?! Come on!!!!!)
Agreed! The game moves way too slow to be considered a party game, and the seventh one was pretty mediocre. However, I could see a Wii version being good.
5). Pokemon(Nintendo doesn't realize that, while Pokemon still sells, it really is a reputation ruiner...also, they need to stop even bothering with making console Pokemons!!)
Unfortunately, I agree. I would say the problem with the series is GameFREAK's refusal to actually improve the formula, because I can think of plenty that could be added/tweaked.
6). Mega Man(goes without saying)
Ehh... I don't think so. Capcom does a brilliant job of reinventing the series- X, Zero and ZX were awesome, and Battle Network and Legends were pretty good (though Mega Man in name only). Really, the only problem is that we get slightly tweaked sequels every year or so. If Capcom was to stop whoring it, or actually add to the gameplay, this would be a real gem of a series.
7). Ratchet and Clank(umm, wasn't it intended as a trilogy?! I loved the second one but the third one SUCKED, at least for me it did!)
I'd actually like to see this series continue... I don't think it's gotten stale yet.
8). Medal of Honor(may I introduce you, sir, to the different games that stole MoH's thunder away: CoD2, CoD3, etc....I'm sorry, but MoH does NOT impress me anymore!)
Hell, I think WW2 games in general have become a bore. If they're going to continue, we could have a different take on the story. Resistence tried this, though it was a bit silly.

Hmmm, you guys may be right. I may have been a bit hard on Ratchet and Clank. I suppose the third one didn't have the same oomph, for me, that the second one had. I agree that Starfox is starting to run it's course....I'm sorry, but it was cool when it was a new concept but now the market is cluttered with 3D shooters! I would also have to add the Mana series to the mix. When is the last time Square did a Mana game that was worth a crap? Better still, aside from FF, when was the last time Square did ANYTHING that was worth a crap? I'm starting to get to the point where I believe Splinter Cell is running it's course. Personally, I don't think ANY series, outside of sports, needs a yearly update/sequel! I'm one of the only people who actually likes that Nintendo takes their sweet time with some of their franchises. Though Mario Sunshine was not one of the great mario titles, it certainly wasn't a BAD game, just annoying. I would rather wait a few years and get a great game than get a crap game on time. However, I agree with Saturn(in the GC: A Failure topic) that waiting months on end for a new game was really stupid! Nintendo should have several games at least mostly polished before they release a system to prevent this sort of mess.

If it doesn't count as an FF game, Final Fantasy Tactics (and even if it does count as an FF game, it's still the last good game they made period. The recent FF games are horrible).

Ratchet and Clank 3 was by far the best game in the series. I'd say it was one of the best games from last generation as well. You guys are reminding me of other franchises that need to be killed. Jak and Daxter 1 was the only fun game in that series if you ask me, and Tony Hawk 3 was the last Tony Hawk game I loved. Underground 2 was alright, but only because it had Classic mode.

Sadly... I have to agree. Children of Mana is a pretty mediocre dungeon crawler. I hope Dawn of Mana, which aims to be more like Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3, is better.

From what I am hearing, this may be good. It has a good point. GTA IV is going to be on the PS3, Xbox 360 and maybe the Wii. If you read my controversial game subject, Jack Thompson is trying to ban the 360 version and put Bill Gates in trial. That is not right. Sega, and Nintendo need to give their mascots a break. Mario has too many side games, although Mario Kart is good and waits every once in a while. Sonic makes at least two games in one year, if one turns out bad. The 16-bit era of Sonic is the best. Megaman has over 30 games and that is my guess from all the main and side series. Medal of Honor is going to decline when these other games such as Brothers in Arms and Call of Duty with it's gameplay and uncensored violence make these two games great. Pokemon is really confusing. They release their games on the same day and if that happens, why are they the top selling game on the handhelds? Why couldnt they make a game at least every year with only one game that year. Mortal Kombat has not been good since the 32-bit era. Franchises are great every once in a while then decline. Case in point: The Mario games. On the Gamecube, he has not even sold squat to be the top selling-game. He was great on the NES, SNES, and N64, but not Gamecube.

Squaresoft have done a lot of great non FF games: Front Mission 3, Vagrant Story and the amazing iS:Internal Section which pretty much inspired Rez.

Oh, I completely agree, Blue. However, I'm talking in the present tense. Apart from FF, what does Square have? They haven't done a game that holds a candle to their heyday work. That's my opinion, at least. Vagrant Story and Front Mission 3 are awesome, though.

Who's post are you referring to ssx? I'm sure whoever posted it knows, but I have no idea what you're talking about.
