Franchises run into the ground?
[QUOTE=Funkmaster V][QUOTE=BanjoPickles] Conn, I couldn't agree more. I was reading some info on SMG and though it looks really fun, it didn't excite me as much as it should have. I think with all of the Mario Parties(8 now!! Jesus!), Mario Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Soccer, Mario Kart, the guest appearances in SSX, NBA Street, etc. just make the Mario name as generic as can be. I'll still pick SMG up, but I do wish they'd stop already with the spin-offs!

... most of these games are alot of fun. I'm tired of Mario Golf and Mario Party... but the rest are cool wit me.

You'll see no arguement from me there. Mario Power Tennis is great fun and I really like Super Mario Strikers (even if it's BARELY a Mario game). However, they would still be just as fun without the Mario characters, and THAT is what I want to see. Because even if these sports games are great, they're still cheapening Mario's name and making him seem very generic. Say what you will about the Sonic series, but at least Sega hasn't made a bajillion spinoffs.

I think more than 2 franchise games per system is too much. Take Metroid Prime for example....don't you think a third one for the Cube would have been old??

Then what are Sonic Drift, Sonic R, Sonic Spinball, Sonic Riders, and Sonic Shuffle? (Sonic Shuffle is a Mario Party clone on Dreamcast if you've never heard of it) All of those games are not standard Sonic games, and would have continued if they were successful. The only reason Sonic isn't in a bunch of spinoffs is because none of the spinoffs were good enough or popular to merit more.

That's true, a. I hadn't thought about the success of the titles. But even then, Sega doesn't try to push the Sonic spinoffs.
Eh, maybe it was a bad example.
