Zelda Twilight Princess on the GameCube

Well, the VGC is still waiting to get a Wii, but hopefully that will change in the next month or two.  In the meantime, I noticed the GameCube version of the new Zelda (Twilight Princess) at Best Buy.  Is this a worthwhile purchase, or should I just wait for my Wii?  As a collector, I'm tempted to pick up both.  Please advise!

To be honest, Critic, it really depends on preference. Do you prefer a standard control or the motion sensor controls? The only differences between the two of them are:

1). World is sort of flipped around.

2). Controls

3). Bonus fishing game.

Apart from that, there really is not much of a difference. Either one is worth it.

You should buy both, then compare the two of them. Just my idea.

I suggest reading this. Very long, but it says where and how the two versions differ, and which is better or worse.

I'd get the Wii version later, Critic. Sure, the Wii controls aren't as essential to the gameplay as they are in, say, Wii Sports, but the precision aiming alone makes it better.

I suggest the Game Cube version. I prefer the traditional controls, and you get a lot of bug fixes over the Wii version (That sometimes can cripple your save if you do something at the wrong time).

Only thing the GC version lacks is the widescreen mode, otherwise its the superior version imo.

That seems like an exaggeration. I never saw, nor heard of any bugs when playing the game. Maybe you encountered one, or heard of a couple, but the Wii version is hardly buggy.

Anyway, I suggest the Wii version Critic. It has 16:9, and once you get used to the controls you prefer them to the traditional setup. At least I did; maybe it is a preference thing.

If you do some research, you'll quickly see that there were several bugs that were bad enough to destroy your progress in the game. They got quite a bit of publicity, so I'm sort of surprised you haven't heard about it.

Just because you never had them happen doesn't mean they weren't there. I never had Majora's Mask crash on the Zelda Collector's Edition for the GC or had Oblivion freeze on my 360, but that doesn't mean those issues don't exist for others.

Though I will agree that its not enough to sway someone's preferance either way, but the fact remains that its an advantage that the GC version has over the Wii version.

This is the most well known bug:

To truely review this game, it needs to be the Wii version.  After all, it was a launch for the Wii (and yes, orginally for the Cube), but it's firstly a Wii game.

Control will be a huge factor in your review, so that's why.  Bad controls can ruin a game, eh?

My lead singer's favorite series is the Legend of Zelda (besides Final Fantasy) and he says he's gotten sick of not being able to swing a sword by pressing a button. He likes the game but he says he wishes he could use a button to swing the dam sword. The Cube version is probably just as good.
