Yeah, like what Castro did with Angela Davis in the 70's. Of course, she got away scot free in the end and now has a comfy job in the Cal university system. (what a total nutcase; I watched one of her speeches in person at a university out of curiosity my freshman year.)

Yeah, Chavez appears to be leading towards the dictator side now. And in fact, he did it is exactly the way Hitler did, Congress gave him the power. I never understand why democracies will democratically elect a dictator, but that appears to be what is happening. Still our country is allies with people far worse than Chavez, and its near gag like when Bush will insult Chavez on one hand, but then invite the King of Saudi Arabia to the whitehouse for dinner on the other hand. At least Chavez doesn't have any killing fields like many of our "allies"... yet. Chavez really isn't a threat to America in anyway and is basically a clown who says crazy stuff, and I hope he stays that way, and doesn't start taking after his new friend Castro and have people "disappear."
