Unless by cheating you unlock Achievements.

I would guess the Microsoft is (or should be anyway) discouraging having codes that don't require a Gameshark type device, as this would be unfair for the achievement point crowd. I'm not sure of this technically, but perhaps Microsoft can (or has?) designed their operating system on the 360 so as to detect "Gameshark" usage, thus disabling achievements.

 

That said, I can't believe how popular achievements have gotten. I really couldn't care less about them myself.
