Mortal Kombat Trilogy - PS or Saturn?

Postby Gentlegamer1 » February 2nd, 2007, 11:55 pm

I want to get Mortal Kombat Trilogy, but I don't have a PS, just PS2, and I understand there are issues with it on PS2. Is the Saturn version as good, worse, or better? I have a Saturn and would rather not have to buy a PS just for one game.

I don't think they even made Trilogy for the Saturn. They made Ultimate MK3, MK2, and I think that may be it. Trilogy came out for the N64 and the PS1.

Meh, I would say the PS1 version of Trilogy. Yes, although it locks up, just play it in regular one on one or two on two kombat.

Saturn always has better 2d fighers. Get the saturn version for the control alone.

Shut up.

Although the N64 port is fine, the controller does not compare to the Saturns.

I have the PS1 version and use it on my PS2.  Despite some of the troubles the game can have (although the only one I have is the fact that it frezzes if you don't continue a game after being defeated), you'll want the PS1 version.

The Saturn one is basically unfinished; quite a few of the fatalities for some of the characters weren't programmed into the game (the screen darkens for Sub-Zero's decapatation, for example, but the game locks up and/or the fatality never finishes).  Instead of delaying the game to finish it, Midway, by their own admission, shipped the game out as it was.

Get the PS1 version of the game...just make sure you get the non "greatest hits" version.  The one with the black cover seems to have no problems running on a PS2, and it controls just fine.

If you want a decent MK on the Saturn stick with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
