Most people think that girl is Peach anyways, so I think it is great. Feminists may prefer to have an ass kicker like Samus as opposed to a damsel in distress, but I really dig it so whatever.

I do think it's funny how on this banner the females have evolved from bada$$es like Ms. Pac Man and Chun Li into objectified pieces of meat. What does that say about us as a society?

PS: I think the banner is awesome

Beauty is the most powerful force in the world.  If you're physically strong, you might be able to do anything for yourself, but if you're beautiful, you can get other people to do anything  for you!

I definitely prefer the Samus one.  She was a truly groundbreaking figure in videogame character-dom.  I'll always be a Samus man.

[QUOTE=The Video Game Critic]Okay, Mark's latest masterpiece - female evolution - is up and in rotation.  Go to the banners page if you want to check it out without having to click refresh a million times.

There are two versions.  I opted for the girl from Donkey Kong version, although Samus from Metroid probably makes more sense chronologically.  What do you guys think??

I am too tired to remember if I posted this before, but I REALLY prefer Samus on this one.  I mean, she was one of the most revolutiionary video game characters at the time she was released.  She had all the power of a man in that suit, and only at the end did we find out she was a lady.  Frankly, when I first completed the game in enough time to see she was a girl it was a complete surprise to me, and it's imprinted that strong impression on my mind all these years later.

New banner guys?  Just saw a colorful "flowery" banner with games that seemed to have a Spring/"green" motiff to it.  "Dig Dug" was the only game in the new banner that I recognized although I thought "Fantasy Zone" was part of the banner too.  Are you testing the banner that will replace the Winter/"white" banner when it's less cold around most of the nation?  Why isn't the new banner in the Banner section in the front Dave?  Loved the new banner BTW!

Well, that's Rayman on the left, and a baseball game (MLB Slugfest maybe?) on the right. It's definitely a spring themed banner. It looks great.

Yes, you've spotted the new Spring "seasonal" banner that Mark Jewel has kindly provided.  The header page is programmed to automatically place the Spring banner into rotation from March thru May.  Hopefully Mark will produce Summer and Fall banners so I'll have a full set!

Yeah, the Spring banner is pretty amazing.  You can thank me for insisting that Dig Dug play a big part of it, since it wasn't in his first version.

I will try to add this to the banners page soon!

Also, currently the seasonal banners have an equal chance of being shown as the others (1 in 9).  Do you think it should be presented a higher percentage of the time?  If so, that's something I can control.

Well, for those of us who visit the site frequently we will all see the seasonal banners occasionally, but for the casual visitor it might be a good idea to have them in at a higher percentage that way everyone gets to see them. Maybe you could have them in about 25% of the time?

Since its almost zero degrees here in NYC (lower when you factor in wind chill) I was shocked to see it thinking it was wholy inappropriate until sometime in April.  Then I remembered this is a really, really big country...
