PS3 Interview in EGM

Yeah, since people just want to make special trips to speciality shops to buy something for the same price they can get at a place they regularly shop at and will be picking up other items at, why do something in one trip when you can make two to do it?

I know you're being sarcastic, but that is pretty close to my point. People aren't just going shopping at Walmart, seeing a PS3 in the display case, and deciding they feel like grabbing one. Anyone buying a PS3 has thought about it, and is going out specifically to get a PS3. Parents might grab a Wii for their kids while they shop at Walmart (at least before Christmas), but I don't think it is the same situation with the PS3.

You think about it and go to the nearest place selling the item for convenience sake unless the price is unreasonable. Wal-Mart happens to be closest for me.

I'm not insulting anyone that goes to Walmart. I'm just saying that if someone is getting a PS3 and Walmart is the same distance from them as Best Buy, they're probably going to go to Best Buy, because they specialize in electronice. Of course, I have seen PS3s at Best Buy and Walmart, so maybe people just aren't buying them.

I know your not insulting wal-mart, but who cares about specializing, this isn't a computer purchase. Were not talking about the difference between a gateway and a HP computer. There is no sony or microsoft knockoff. Store clerks don't need to be geniuses to tell you what system offers what. People stood outside maxi & cie (quebec posters know) to grab a wii or ps3. Maxi & cie is a grocery store with kitchen stuff and a small electronics area. I bought my n64 at zellers orignally (wal-mart on smaller scale) because they were the only ones to get a shipment in (early 1997). $520cad by the way for an n64 , super mario 64 and shadows of the empire. My brother and I never were and haven't been since then that obsessed about getting a system as when the n64 came out. N64 rules!!!!!!!

Sony just doesn't want to give up on the PS3 yet. I would buy one but I would wait until the price goes down. I mean, 500 and 600 bucks is ridiculous since the system started selling around Thanksgiving and Christmas and I did not see one at my Wal-Mart store. Maybe games start to do better on PS3. Sony needs to say to the media, "Hey, we started off a little good and bad." We should have started at a time when we have systems to meet demand. But the guy in the EGM that VGC was reading was making mainly lies of the first couple issues. The UMD did fail for movies and companies are abandoning it. Sony does not care about Nintendo with the way they doing and Nintendo will be number one with it's way they started in November and December. The high-def TV: You got to be joking me. It seems like Sony only wants PS3s to be in high-def. Could it have been more simpler just for regular TVs? Sony will only accept positve with their exclusive games and features and that will wear off in a couple of years. With how they have done stuff with their previous systems, here's what happens. Sony never fixed their original PS1 with the same hardware and it would not work after a while. Then the PS

I just accidently clicked Post Message so this will be some things I did not say in the first part. When Sony's PS2 one was there, the games and films would work for a while but not after that due to dust and grime. People do accept companies who do well in the generations but Sony does not do well but say positive things.

At my Futureshop we have 5 PS3's sitting around collecting dust. We can't keep the Wii in stock.

What will be interesting is to look at what happens in my demographic. The Province I live in (Prince Edward Island) has just over 132,000 people living in it. A very small population by most standards. I just want to see how long our Wii's continue to sell out in this small a market.

Walmart is the largest retailer in the world, with many locations, so it's natural for people to buy even big ticket items like PS3 there. Additionally, Walmart has an incredibly liberal return policy. You can return something for pretty much any reason. Best Buy and other electronics stores are much more strict on accepting returns, particularly of opened items. If I bought a PS3 and was unsatisfied with it after playing it, I'd rather not have to fight with the employee at the Best Buy return counter about it and then end up with just store credit.

I'm not trying to shill for Best Buy or anything, but they have a very good return policy. I opened a DS accessory to hook up to Wi-Fi, it didn't work, and I brought it back no questions asked. I didn't even have the plastic case it originally came in. I brought back a Wi-Fi router just as easily.
