Just so you know, Videogames turn 41 this year along with yours truly. Ralph Baer Wrote the four page documentation for the "brown box" that became the Odyssey 1 that inspired PONG, etc
the same year I was born, 1966! (although I was born March 19th and the paper is dated September first... and BTW I know Ralph H. made Tennis for 2 in the 50's and Space War is older, but the Odyssey is still considered the true "first"!)

So, I was wondering if anyone else here was born in a signifigant year? I know most of you are younger, but there's years like 1972 when PONG came out, 1976-Channel F the first cart based videogame, 1977 , Atari 2600 was made, 1982, Colecovision and 5200 and so on...any other signifigant dates?

(Actually my first REAL signifigant date was with ELLEN )

Born in '86, the year the NES was released in Europe. Significant enough, at least since I actually live in Europe.

The video game crash was 1983, not 1981.

Hyperinflation, 18% interest rates, gas rationing, hostages in Iran...those were the days.

1979

-The Intellivision was released and gave the Atari VCS some serious competition.

-Pac-Man was also released in Japan which was to become a major part of 80s culture.

-Several programmers left Atari to form Activision. In the coming years they released some of the most memorable titles that pushed the system to the limit such as Pitfall!, Pitfall II, Kaboom!, River Raid, Keystone Capers, H.E.R.O., Pressure Cooker and Enduro.

-Asteroids was released to the arcades and became one of the best selling cabinets of the early 80s.

-Capcom was founded as Japan Capsule Computers. However, they weren't to become a serious player in the video game industry for another few years.
