Most obscure icon idea?

Postby VideoGameCritic » April 8th, 2021, 5:03 pm

I think it's funny to have obscure icons like "might contain eggplant" on the site in addition to the typical ones like "RPG" or "may contain hotties".

While going thru my reviews I thought of a lot of wacky ones like "may contain Scooby Snacks" or "may contain ED-209" or "may contain Rutger Hauer". I probably won't be adding these but they would be funny in an odd way.

My challenge to you is to come up with the most obscure, imaginative, very specific icon that I could actually apply to one or more of my reviews. You have to describe what the icon would look like! Maybe I'll pick a winner and we'll make a new icon for the site!

It’s probably not feasible but I’d love for there to be a “better in arcade” icon. It’s tough seeing legendary games like Arch Rivals’ ports getting mediocre grades, deservedly so because the ports looked bad.

May contain text / grammar errors? (not the review, the game of course...) All your base are belong to us! (Zero Wing)
It contains a broken keyboard, I guess.

This is VERY clever! Well done! Not sure a broken keyboard icon would get the point across though.

It would probably apply to about a dozen games, which I think is a good number for an obscure icon.

So many games that you reviewed have been based on advertising campaigns. Kool-Aid Man, Chase the Chuckwagon, Yo! Noid, Cool Spot, etc. You should have a "Your Ad Here" icon for those games.

Wow, that is another really good one! Not sure we could fit "Your Ad Here" on a 32x32 icon however.

It's tricky to come up with a good idea AND a suitable icon!

A manhole icon could be used for "May Contain Sewers."

I like the concept but it would be hard to find a suitable icon I think.
Might be better off using a turtle shell for that (TMNT).
