Evercade - Arcade Carts Revealed

Postby MSR1701 » May 18th, 2021, 5:01 am

Evercade has revealed 4 new carts, all of which are part of the Arcade series. These carts look to use actual Arcade versions of the games as opposed to the console ports of earlier releases. The current release date is November 2021:

I am also excited about the arcade collections. I don't understand why it's took them so long to release these. They're just leaving money on the table as everybody turns to MAME instead.

https://evercade.co.uk/founders

There is a founders pack coming out. No price on it. I tried to get it via the email but it is not letting me put my email in.

That said. I think it is a case of wait and see.

I saw the Founder style and didn't look at the price. It may be a discount for what you get, but I really prefer the white-red system style over the Founder style.

No Double Dragon 1? Who asked for 3?

Really, only the Gaelco games are tempting me. They're underrated and underrepresented. It's the first time the Evercade feels like it's bringing something new to the table. Or at least a new flavor of old.

With that said, I'm really surprised nobody's made a new game, only for this system.

It'd only be competing with a limited range of older titles, so there's no need for an obscene budget in order to make the platform do something it's never attempted. And you'd get an uncontested visibility that developers on mobile/console/PC digital distribution would kill for.

Surely, someone would be willing to put up the money for a physical release?

Aside from MAME emulation, many of the Arcade pack games haven't been released before or in recent years.

As for completely original games, all in good time...

That founder's edition looks hot and comes with some great cartridges! Tempted, but $226...
