This is supposed to be a classic gaming forum, now all you guys do is whine and moan about the newest systems.

But I'm always looking for that NEXT classic! Plus this is an awesome era for videogames. We've never had it so good, the best of times, the worst of times and all that jazz.

So is it just me or is Donkey Jr. a great sequel. I just made it to set 5 today. The springboard level is a lot harder on that level (the platform barely moves).

But this isn't specifically a classic gaming forum nor review site. Notice how the Critic has a Playstation 3 section. You might prefer AtariAge forums.

i wouldnt call this the best of times, at best, its the gilded age of video games. a time full of promises that mostly come up empty

The best of times was 1980-82. That was when the greatest revolutions in games took place, in my book. Of course many of you are too young to remember.
I love Donkey Kong Junior, but I think the original DK was the superior game. Kong made a better heavy than little Mario.

Ever notice that everyone's "best times" are whenever they were kids or teenagers? Nobody who's 15 now ever thinks 1980-82 is the best time for video games, and nobody who's 35 ever thinks the current era is the best.
Personally, I think the 16-bit era was the "best times," because most of my favorite games are from that era. But the reason for that is probably because that's when I had the time and access to the most games.

Personally I am really enjoying the current age because I only finished university last year and my whole life I have never had the time I wanted to enjoy my hobbies due to studying. Now I actually have the money to buy games and the time to play them

Time though, she is a harsh mistress. Yarrr.
Seriously, that's how I felt a few years ago, but now I have much less time for games and much more money tied up in more important things.
