I always found Tetris mind numbingly boring and overrated beyond belief, perhaps the most overrated game of all time.
Somewhat more modern game (and I'll get flamed for this one, for sure) I've owned Shenmue (DC) since the day it was released, and I've never, ever ever ever ever ever been able to warm up to it, and understand it's mass appeal. In the immortal words of Homer Simpson: "Boooooooooring!"

I know people who love Shenmue, but I share your opinion. I guess to give it its due it is a very amitious game, but its kind of like watching a really bad kung-fu movie.
I never found the original "Jet Grind Radio" to be much fun. All the running from dogs and police got on my nerves.
I was talking about Mariokart in another thread and I was reminded by how overrated MK64 is! I know a lot of people thought Doubledash was inferior to 64 and I cannot see why. I can't fault the 64 version for obviously having poorer visuals and not being near as smooth, but I do fault it for having long boring tracks and the general feel of the controls. I hate it when you hit a bannanna and it takes 5 seconds to wipe out! People critized DD for taking out the jump, but the powerslide feature on the game is so smooth and so much improved over 64 that it just plain makes the game. Also DoubleDash had some awesome music and very imaginative, unique tracks. It is a crying shame it is not possible to download more tracks to run on that perfect game engine!
People who like Mario Kart 64 over Double Dash just haven't spent enough time with Double Dash. I originally disliked how they got rid of the jump, but after playing through the game I can't imagine not having the slide boost. At this point I have trouble playing any kart racers that don't have boost dashes (the only others I know of are Mario Kart DS and Crash Team Racing).

I'm talking about powerslide boosting. You can indeed do it in Mario Kart DS, but not in Mario Kart 64. In Double Dash it is done by starting a power slide, then pushing the joystick in the direction opposite you powerslide, letting it center again, then repeating so there is blue under your kart, at which point when you release it boosts you. In Mario Kart DS it is about the same but you go in the opposite direction of the powerslide then to the same side (rather than just letting go), and it is red under the kart when you have the boost. I'm fairly sure that powerslide boosts aren't in Mario Kart 64.
Doubledash controls better than MKDS, which still controls great, and the 2 of them are worlds apart form MK64. The boost in 64 is very crude.
In general, I thnk the N64 had a LOT of terrible 3-d racers.
a power slide boosts are in Mario Kart 64.
Steerforth the reason for the delay in the banana kicking in in MK64 is due to the fact that it allows skillful players to do the old brake trick and completely avoid skidding out so apart from a brief slowdown the banana doesn't affect you.
