The Video Game Critic

While in the process of posting my latest set of reviews I noticed a problem.

Most of you are familiar with this long-running Sega jet shooter Afterburner. While searching my reviews I noticed I had been spelling it two different ways.

Well, looking it up on Wikipedia, I realized it's really two words: After Burner.

So I went back and revised the old references to reflect the official name.

The thing is, I don't think it looks correct as two words! I think the Japanese translation was a little off.

Thoughts?

It looks like After Burner is correct, for stylistic reasons and trademark, while Afterburner is correct for the real thing.

But AfterBurner better fits how close both halves of the title are, aesthetically.

Ahhh... so perhaps AfterBurner would be the best approach??

There's no hyphen so I think it's two separate words.

If there was a dash between them then it would be one word when you look at the arcade art work. As it is I think it's two separate words for the game at least.

I'd go with it. Like you said, what's technically correct just looks wrong.

I see it as two words myself.

Good Question... The answer is Yes.

As the proud owner of a Climax version of the game (got it for $100!!!), I can confirm it is two words. After Burner: Climax for instance.
