Dug myself out of the mountain of snow in my driveway and finally picked up my pre-ordered copy of Wiiplay.
Obviously, I ordered this for the elusive fourth Wii-mote. Interestingly, there seem to be plenty around now that the game is released. If this is intentional, well, I can't really fault smart business!
At any rate, I had a good time with the games. Wiiplay is obviously not worth more than the ten bucks it *really* costs, however. For ten bucks, though, you do get some nice stuff, such as:
Billiards. The controls work great on this one. Only does 9 ball, but still a neat little game. A fully featured billiards come ought to be made by somebody, since the controls are so good.
Find Mii. Oddly addictive little game, and its a gas to see all of your Mii's (especially if you have weird ones like I do, such as Hitler, Anna Nicole Smith, and Saddam Hussein) running around.
Laser Hockey. Very fun pong variant, though it plays quite a bit like air hockey. Might be the second best game in the bunch. Very easy to twist and turn the paddle to get bank shots.
Shooting Gallery aka Duck Hunt II. An obvious use of the Wiimote to be sure, it is still fun. The Wii should really get some great "on rails" shooting games based on the intuitive controls.
The best mini: Tanks
I fun little "Combat" variant. Using the wiimote to aim is intuitive and fun. The levels are laid out as if they are toy tanks in lincoln log fields, which is neat. A blast with two players.
The Lame Minis:
Fishing. Better in Zelda when it had to do with the story. Otherwise boring.
Pose-Mii. Some will like this, but I can't find myself going back to it.
Cow Racing. On one hand, the controls work extremely well, and I definitely want to get Excite Truck soon after trying this, but this mini game doesn't really hold water.
Ping Pong. Could have been cool, but you can only rally and never serve. Yawn......
