Hi VGC-

As always, love your site. You seem like a pretty big Zelda fan - are you ever going to review Majora's mask for the N64?

Hopefully Dave will review Majora's Mask. The last time I checked, it required the N64 Expansion Pak in order to get the game working properley.

I have never played Majoras Mask because a friend of mine who is a big Zelda fan got it and hated it almost immediately because he said something about how if you don't perform certain tasks in a certain amount of time, you have to start back at the beginning  and it was easily the most frustrating game he had ever played.

It's only a matter of time before I review it, but I kind of doubt it will rate very highly in my book.  Not just because of some things I've heard, but because I wasn't even crazy about Ocarina.

I prefer Majora's Mask to Ocarina Of Time.

Your friend didn't invest much time in it.

It's just a gimmick, it's the new twist this game has of knowing the world is destined to end in three days and only you can prevent it from happening.

Without the mostly useless timer, you'd lose that sense of approaching doom. Also, they'd of had a tough time explaining why you can go back to day 1 (What's your motivation if the world isn't going to end?) and you'd of lost the nicely scripted events that go on in those three days if things just go on forever.

It's basically a story element, not a gameplay element that significantly restricts your actions. And that's especially true when you locate the inverted Song of Time early in the game which lets you slow down time. Once you locate that, you'll have ample time to do anything you want without ever once feeling rushed or having to worry about the timer.

If you weren't crazy about it, then why do I see a B+? . I don't really expect you to give it a better grade than Ocarina Of Time (which I have to admit has some flaws), but in my opinion, Majora's Mask is an A game. On your hand, I would say maybe between D- and a B. One thing you might like about it is that it's darker and scarier than the first game, and that the temples are shorter than Ocarina's (in my opinion). You might have to use a FAQ on it (I did), but then again, I've used FAQ's for EVERY ZELDA GAME I'VE PLAYED!! I probably think you might "underrate" it, but that's just me.

Personally, I don't really care for 3D Zelda games at all. Just my opinion though.
