Overrated games!

[QUOTE=Paul Campbell]Let me say once again that if Wii Sports had depth, I would be skipping through the "depth" with the + button to hurry and get to the game.  That kind of game needs no depth.  Did Tetris need depth?  Did Virtua Tennis have depth?  No.  They were fun.

Virtua Tennis had a hell of a lot of depth.  Experienced players would obliterate new comers, especially if you got two people practicing together for doubles.

Overrated games!

Now that I finally picked up a wii, I got another game to add.

Wii sports.   What a peice of junk.   It has five games and i only like one of them and just barely.  In tennis you cant control your player so it's horrible.   Boxing is horrible and takes forever to knock someone down.      Baseball has no fielding at all, and the pitching is nothing like the motion you make.  Bowling just doesn't make for a good video game because if I wanted to bowl, I'd go to a bowling alley, and they couldn't even get it right anyways.   The motion your hand makes seems to have no effect on the ball.   Wii Golf is ok, but not exactly a great game, and I don't golf anyways.   Looks like I will be Ebaying this hunk of junk.   I wish the system costed less and didn't come with it.

I'm glad I picked up Wii Play though, an incredibly underrated game.   It has 9 games.   and I really like 3 of them.  The air hockey game is awesome and shows a form of gameplay not capable on any other system.  I really love the pool game, despite its lack of options it has great psyhics.  I cant wait for a full pool game.  And the tank game is flat out awesome. Definately worth the 10 dollars.

Ok I got off track, so allow to talk about other Overrated games.

Tetris -  I hate it, yet it seems to make every top 10 of all time list from all the magazines. Why?  Meteos on the other hand is ten times better than Tetris.

Resident Evil 0 -   playing as 2 characters just made the game too convulted.

Tomb Raider -  How can anyone think this average platformer is even in the same category as Mario 64?

I think the orginal NES Metriod sucks royally as well.

Agreed 100%.  The original Metroid is probably one of the absolute worst games I've ever played.  I love Metroid 2 on Gameboy and Super Metroid, but the original is absolutely terrible.  It's not like I just think it's over-rated, or that it just looks bad in retrospect; I think it is a horrible, horrible game.

How is that depth?  I obliterate newcomers in Wii Tennis because I know how to apply top and bottom spin to the ball, utilize the front man, and control the angle of my shot.

It has depth because you develop new strategies.  Just like Crazy Taxi it is easy to pick up and play but very hard to master.  I would call the way that the player gradually learns new strats depth, what is your definition of depth?

How much do you expect to get for a game everyone who have a console already owns?

Bluemonkey if you want to argue that Virtua Tennis has depth bring up the World tour mode. All those mini games, some very hard, lasted me for a very long time. It took me thousands of tries to beat King.

Okay, I've bought some really stupid stuff in the past, recently picking up 187 Ride or Die for $2 is a waste of money, but this ebay link is hilarious.

Hey smart guy if you like it that is great. I find Wii Sports to be a bore. Boxing is a joke and the controls suck. Tennis is on rails. There are only 9 holes of Golf (and the controls suck). Baseball is lame (no career mode, no seasons, no official teams. Now I am not saying there isn't fun to be had. There is and if you enjoy games that offer extremely shallow gameplay then this is the game for you. You like to play with your inlaws? Good for you. My inlaws have no interest and neither does my wife. Give me a break dude. As a pack in it is fine but people calling this the game of the year, please! The only reason people are still playing Wii Sports four months later is b/c Nintendo hasn't released any other games worth playing. Don't worry, Metroid will be out this Summer.

It's just a stab, but I would guess there's not too many people wanting to play games with you at all... related or not. If you do have friends that come over, its probably the type of people that would steal money from you if you left it laying around.

It's just a stab, but you are an idiot. Seriously, a different opinion means somebody is a loser? Please. I have plenty of friends, a hot wife and I make good money. I guess the only thing that makes me a loser is posting on this site. Maybe I should give that up.
