Will they make more games for the PS3?

When in the world are they going to release some new games for the PS3!?  This thing is turning into the world's most expensive paper weight.  You should see the dust on mine.  I'm pretty sure Lair is going to be good, but it's not slated for release until this summer.  What's in the queue??

I hope the PS3 doesn't suffer the same fate as the PSP - that system has so many ports that someone needs to alert the coast guard for Pete's sake!!

Are you kidding me? They have a ton more games that are too be released then the Wii! In fact, since the launch, I think both the Wii and the PS3 have released the same amount of games. Do you just wake up every morning and go "what can I complain about today?". By the end of next month both Virtual Fighter 5 and Motorstorm will be released plus a couple of other third party games. Plus, the system has only been out like 3 or 4 months...relax dude.

Oddly enough, I actually agree with Shawn on this one.  The PS3 is pretty young.  It had a few good games at its launch (not my kind of games really, but good games in a greater sense).  Remember how long it took for the PS2 to take off with new titles, but when it took off it really took off.

 

Of course, that could just be the optimist in me talking.  And I can't end a post actually agreeing with Shawn.  So here's my real advice:  Be prepared to play Resistance -- over and over and over again...

Yea the games are coming out at the same rate as the Wii.  I have both systems and I'm not really worried about either.

 

The PS3 has marqee titles coming once a month for the next few months.

 

Feb - Virtua Fighter 5

 

March - Motorstorm, Oblivion (not an exclusive, but still big release)

 

April - Rainbow Six Vegas (see above about Oblivion)

 

May - Lair

 

June - Warhawk and Heavenly Sword

 

Take note of Heavenly Sword.  That game looks like it could be the PS3 version of God of War.  Looks incredible.

 

Plus more multiplatform games will help round out the early 07 lineup.

Well gee dude - if I just posted messages about how everything was so hunky-dory, don't you think it would be pretty boring around here??  Duh!

The Wii might have the same number of games, but it has a LOT more original titles that I'd rather play.  Hell, I can name about 8 games I'm interested in for the Wii.  All I see for the PS3 is Tony Hawk 8, Tiger Woods 07, and a bunch of second-rate 360 ports.

Of COURSE if you wait long enough the games will come, but as of today, Resistance is probably the only compelling title for the system.  And of the titles on that list, Motorstorm and Lair and the only two that really jump out.

A lot original games? ok, like what? Excite Truck? Zelda? Call of Duty? Red Steel? Far Cry? Wario Ware? Please, name me the 8 original games you want for the Wii. Take a close look..ports of PS2 games and party (mini) games. If that is your thing, the the Wii is highly original otherwise it isn't. Heck, Trauma Center is a DS port of all things! The point is, both systems need time. The PS3 lineup isn't stellar (personally, I think Full Auto 2 kicks ass) but it will be and quick. Have you played Virtual Fighter 5? I have and the PS3 version is supposed to be just like the arcade version which is amazing. Motorstorm and Lair look great as well not to mention Mercenaries 2. Ok so some of those games you can get on the 360. Well it's a year and a half and they have only moved 10 million units, seems that there is some room for the PS3. Plus, the Wii is terribly underpowered so you better count on first party games b/c the third party support isn't there and there are zero multiplatform games for the system coming to the Wii. Hey if you don't like your PS3 that's cool but I think you will be eating  your words big time when it is all said and done.

There's actually some good stuff coming out on the PS3 that look hot.  Lair for me being number one with FF13 looking mighty nifty as well.  On the Wii side, I honestly don't see much to get me excited.

 

Sure, I'd probably love chopping someone to bits with an axe in Manhunt but I'm not so sure that's what I had in mind when buying my Wii.  I'm loving Zelda and that will keep me busy for awhile but honestly, there's not much coming out on that system at the moment. 

 

Personally, I want, nay, need an updated Samba De Amigo.  The Raving Rabbids minigame take on it was half-assed.  I need the real thing.

Just a hunch... but maybe the Wii's originality is considered superior to that of the PS3 because of its control. The reason nothing on the PS3 seems original is because its all just been there, done that games with improved graphics and sound. In terms of originality to the common gamer, there's nothing original about the PS3. Boring, generic controllers with no rumble support, glitchy out-of-the-box online capabilities, and a blu-ray player that possibly won't even be used don't constitute a 600 dollar price tag. Regardless of the originality of the games themselves, the wii will always have the creative edge over the PS3, simply because the wii gives the player an experience he's never used before; video games sans the typical 2 joystick, 4 button controller.

Relax there shawn. If you haven't noticed, dave doesn't have a Wii and is just commenting about the PS3 and PS3 alone.
