Will they make more games for the PS3?

Everyone said MS would never get their 10 million head start lead and they did it.  I'd say it's pretty good going.

The PS3 does have some interesting games coming just none of them are coming out until at least the summer.  I guess some people may find it exciting paying twice as much to get to play 1 to 1.5 year old 360 games with worse graphics and online than the originals but not me.

PWNED!  And we have the 360 for the win!  This is why I don't understand the whole "PS3 will have great games" argument.  The 360 DOES have great games right now, and it too WILL have great games in the future.  This isn't even like choosing pork chop over steak.  It's like Sony fans are choosing the possibility of pork chops over steak and lobster that's right there.  At least the Wii is cheaper and different than the 360, so there's some reason to choose it.

Are you kidding me? They have a ton more games that are too be released then the Wii! In fact, since the launch, I think both the Wii and the PS3 have released the same amount of games. Do you just wake up every morning and go "what can I complain about today?". By the end of next month both Virtual Fighter 5 and Motorstorm will be released plus a couple of other third party games. Plus, the system has only been out like 3 or 4 months...relax dude.

I didn't see where The Critic compared anything to the Wii.... ah, this is a SHAWN post.... it's inevitable I guess.  Jumping on people's backs and turning any attack on the PS3 around and into an attack on the Wii.  I should've guessed.

Plus, the Wii is terribly underpowered so you better count on first party games b/c the third party support isn't there and there are zero multiplatform games for the system coming to the Wii.

What a load of crap.  Didn't you just say that it is too early to tell anything about the lineups for these systems?  Why wouldn't the third party support be there?  Because the Wii is smoking the PS3 in sales or because it has an innovative control mechanism that opens up new ideas for gameplay and can reinvent old franchises?  Please tell me.  Oh, and before you talk about how "terribly underpowered" you think it is, you'd better read the initial reactions of those that have played the upcoming Metroid game.  Apparently it could be mistaken for a 360 game.   You need to seriously chill out and just avoid  posts where someone shares their opinions of the PS3 that may not be so rosy.

Are you kidding me? The Wii couldn't even pull off a decent version of Farcry! I am sure Metroid will look great, it is a first party title! However, the Wii is incredibly underpowered compared to the 360 and the PS3. If you think otherwise you are kidding yourself. I don't want to be a troll, I'll let you guys get back to rubbing your bellies and patting your heads.

I'm not taking anyone's side on this, but you all raise good points (even Shawn).  Sadly while you guys tend to praise one system you completely turn a blind eye to a system's faults.

Is the Wii perfect?  Hell no.  The graphics are ugly as all hell and the third party support isn't exactly getting pumped out.  Will the graphics get better?  Slightly, but I don't ever think there will be games that can compete with the PS3 or 360 hardware.  That doesn't mean that there can't be artisitcally beautiful games for the Wii.  While there are tons of publishers starting to back the Wii, the games haven't come out yet...have this conversation in a year then we can argue.

Also before we crown the 360 king of anything you need to look at some negative facts.  Out of the 3 systems, the 360 is easily the worst made system of the 3.  Even a year after its release systems still crap out for no good reason.  This is unaccectable by any standard of gaming.  Also Microsoft does not have a 10 million unit lead.  They have squandered there first year.  Nintendo halved Microsoft's lead in 3 months.  Also while Microsoft has claimed to pushed 10 million units, I'm willing to bet that at least 2 million of them are sitting in stores.  Microsoft recently reduced it 07 shipping numbers drastically, because of this (and the impending release of a new version of the 360).  The 360 has been doing ok thus far, but it certainly isn't the clear cut winner.

Finally we get to the PS3.  It has gotten so trendy to bash this system that people will take jabs at it for no reason.  I'm willing to bet that half the people on this site don't even own one and yet they have no problem calling it worthless.  The console is doing better than the 360 did at launch and I remember that console took a lot of sh** for many months.  Again wait until this time next year and then you guys can tear this system apart.

I have no problem with you guys going off on why something is so good, but don't act like any of these systems are perfect.  They all have faults and its still to early to predict anything about this generation.

If I read on more person write that exact line I'm sure my head will explode.  It isn't trendy to put down the PS3, it is sensible.  We didn't all wake up one day and decide it would be the new hip thing to bash the system.  People put it down because it deserves to be put down.  It costs a lot more money to do the exact same thing as a 360.   You say people take jabs at it for new reason, I say anyone who praises it up is doing so with absolutely no good reason.   It is, so far, completely undeserving of praise.

How is it sensible?  Its irrational and childish, is what it is.  Do you own a PS3.  Do you play one regularly?  Do you have any idea what the system is capable of or do you just base all of your opinions on what has been said by other people?  The PS3 deserves to be put down just as much as the 360 and the Wii deserve to get put down.  Its not perfect, but its a great gaming system.

The PS3 may cost more, but at least you are getting a ton of value for your money.  Plus the hardware is very reliable.  Here are few questions that I would like to ask.  Does the PS3 break for no aparrent reason?  Do I need a wireless adapter to play games online?  Do I need to pay for online gaming?  Do I have to buy an add-on attachment to enjoy Hi-Def movies?  Is the 360 100% backwards compatible?  How many times is Microsoft gonna change the DVD-rom drive in the 360?  I could go on and on and on about how badly Microsoft has screwed up with hardware of the 360.  Yet you seem to think that Microsoft has crafted the perfect system.  How is the public going to react when they release a brand new model a la the DS Lite?  How pissed off are those first year owners going to be when a bigger better model comes out a year and half into the system's life cycle?

I own a PS3 and I can say that its not perfect...but at least I own it and can form my own opinion about it.  You simply reiterate what you read online or in magazines.   I have very good reason to praise the system.  Even though I only own a single PS3 game I can play it online for free against 40 other people with no lag...right out of the box.  The simple fact that I can't stop playing it means that its good in my book.   I also have access to over 100 other Playstation games that I own.  When I watch movies I want them to be in 1080p because it looks amazing...it really makes the whole home theatre thing that much better.  Personally I've always loved Sony's controller and the sixaxis is no different.  Its light, comfy and the design is timeless.

The only knock against the system is that there aren't too many games out yet.  The same thing could have been said about the 360 early in its life.  At least the PS3 launched with an original IP that has killer app potential.  I would rather praise the PS3 and wait for its upside to show itself before I call it worthless.  As it stands right now its a reliable piece of hardware that offers just as much out of the box as any of the other 3 systems...perhaps even a little more.  Give the thing some time to shine, before you write it off as the next virtual boy.

No, Ubisoft couldn't pull off a decent version of FarCry on the Wii.   And if Metroid will look great, doesn't that mean the hardware is capable?
