Take Heart, PS3 owners

Postby feilong801 » February 21st, 2007, 11:42 am

Just read the reviews for Virtual Fighter. Looks pretty sweet. That should help you PS3 owners out there get through the post launch doldrums. This is the first PS3 title that causes my "jealousy meter" to go up a bit.

Thankfully, it's coming out for the 360 in the summer.

I can't wait for the greatest fighting series ever to hit 360.  I hope they put Live play in though.

Yea VF5 looks incredible and despite the lack of online features it still getting great reviews.  The only place that I've seen it get a less than favorable review was gamespot.  They gave it an 8.1.

I agree with Bluemonkey...they should fix the online portions for the 360 game.  It has been heavily speculated that Sega left out online options to appease the hardcore arcade gamers that adore VF5.  They didn't want to steal any of the arcade's thunder.  Personally I think they should have just put online in the PS3 version and those don't want to use it don't have to.

So basically, it's "take heart PS3 fans, because you have a small exclusivity window coming up in which you have something 360 owners don't have, only something that they will have".  The heart doesn't exactly soar with renewed confidence in the product, does it.

since counters depend on specific frames of animation, any lag whatsoever would ruin the game online. i applaud sega for not taking it online.

It doesn't have to be the same kind of playstyle for the online mode.

Take Chu Chu Rocket as an example, that in built lag changed the gameplay but it was still fun.

If VF5 doesn't have online play then I will never get to play it with anyone else.  I would rather have the option of playing human opponents, even if it isn't as pure an experience than being stuck with the AI.  Besides this is Virtua Fighter not Dead or Alive - most characters don't even have counters unless you are playing as the likes of Akira (I have played all the VF games except VF 4 and Kids).

[/QUOTE]How is 8.1 less than favorable?
