How bout the night and day difference between the origional DS and the DS lite. I recieved the original for Christmas when it first came out, and looks are not that important to me, but you cannot deny that it looks like it dates from about 1985. WOW is it ugly, the original Gameboy looks sleeker. The DS lite is very sweet, though. BTW, if you are going to buy a DS, don't go for the cheaper original, because the brighter screen on the Lite is well worth the money, also an unbelieveable diference.

As for the conspiracy theorists who think Nintendo made the first one look like crap on purpose, so they could do a revision down the road to promote double purchases, I don't believe it, no one has that much guts. I think Nintendo has a full plate everyday, and being "only" a gaming company is both their best asset and a liability. Nintendo is a huge corporation but they pale in comparison to the vast departments and resources of Sony and Microsoft. Which means they have a different business model and thankfully create very different hardware and software.

As much as I love Nintendo the original DS did look like garbage.  When I looked at the old one I didn't even consider getting it once, unless it was free, but when I saw the new design whether it had games out I liked or not I wanted it.  Just shows how a design or look can change someone's mind.
