Worst Nintendo pad is probably the gamecube, even though it is the most comfortable feling controller I ever used. If only they would not have had such a small d-pad and the button layout was ultimately a mistake. I really like the feel of their analog sticks though, so it is a mixed bag.

Huh.  I think the Gamecube button layout is the best of any.  No other controller with that many or close to that many buttons makes it easier to know what button to push without looking.

i would like to add that of the group of terrible classic controllers (intellivision, coleco, 5200, 7800), the coleco has the worst directional control, the intellivision has the worst action buttons, the 7800 is the least comfortable, and the 5200 is the least reliable

i think that covers it (the intelly disc is the best directional control of the four btw)

I actually hate the original Genesis controller.  The D-pad feels so mushy to me.  The six-button was much better.

My favorite is the SNES.  I like the convex/concave buttons, the texture of the D-pad, and the angled, rubber start/select buttons.

Favorite Oldie: Atari 2600 Joystick

Just a stick and a button, the way nature intended.

Favorite Newie: XBox 360 Pad

Nice shape, quality feel, good triggers.

Least Favorite: Atari 7800 Joystick

After playing Joust with it for five minutes,

my thumb BURST INTO FLAMES!  That's just not right...

Close 2nd Least Favorite: Atari Jaguar Pad

     Big, mushy, clunky, POS.

I really liked the original Xbox controller myself, not for it's design or layout but because of the size.  My paws can't get comfortable with my beloved NES and Master System controllers any more.

Okay, I am AMAZED this got through the censors.

But yes,yes....I must admit out of all the things we play with these two items work the best. Good action, fits well, compact, reliable and GREAT feel.

Whenever I refer to the Genesis controller, I always mean the 6-button. I still have an original Genesis controller somewhere, but the only 2 I use are the 6-buttons. It's the same with the NES controller. When someone says it's not a great controller, I'm like "what are you talking about? The curves and button layout are so incredibly comfortable." Then I realize they're talking about the original rectangle NES controller and I'm thinking about the dogbone.
