Call of Duty 3 help (wii)

I just rented the game and I have a problem on the first level.   When I go through a door, a Nazi sneak attack melees me in a scripted event.   The screen says to point the nunchuk and wiimote at each and swing back and forth alternating in a punching motion.   I've tried this.   I even stood up and swung as fast as I could and it didn't work.  Is there something I'm doing wrong?   Please Help.

I didn't find COD3 on the Wii fun. I watched my friend play it but he hated it so much it wasn't funny. But sorry man I can't help ya.

I'm not entirely sure which part you are at, or what's bothering you, but I remember those parts and I didn't have any problems. If you're where it sounds like you are just point the nunchuck and Wii remote at each other (hold the Wii remote in one hand the way you would for an NES game or Excite Truck with two), and push forward one arm after the other rhythmically. If you do them both at the same time, or don't have them turned correctly it won't work.

That is exactly what I have been doing.  I've try doing it fast, slow, long, short, everything.  Ive tried taking them apart, Ive tried trading hands, I tried moving up instead of out, down instead of out.   Ive tried increasing the sensitivity of my remote.   Ive stood up and done everything to make it quicker.   Nothing I do seems to work.  Ive tried about 50 times now and I am really really annoyed.   And worst of all, gamefaqs has no guides on the wii version, just 360 version, which would be pointless for this.   And of course as with all rentals, didn't get a manual. So Im screwed.

okay, dumb question as I haven't played the game but I have noticed some games allow you to select left handed vs right handed play.  If you have to point the controllers at each other and are using them in your left hand, they'll be opposite of what the system's expecting if you're not playing "right handed".

I'm left handed and have pretty much learned to use the wiimote in my right hand for zelda/raving rabbids and in my left for wii sports.

okay, i got nothing else.

Sorry, but I can't really help you then. Unless ActRaiser is right, and you need to switch hands, I can't think of what is going wrong. I'd keep experimenting and see if you can get it, because I did it pretty easily. If you can't get it to work either give up on it (if it's a rental) or see if someone else can do it. If no one else can do it you may want to look in on seeing if the game or one of your controllers is defective.

One other thought, yes, I had two today, sit closer to your tv.  In Raving Rabbids I've got to sit about 6 inches closer for the thing to register the remote properly while in Zelda i can lounge back on the couch without a problem.  It's funny as with Zelda there's a lot more going on but with Raving Rabbids you get that error message saying to sit closer.

If you figure it out be sure to fill us in so we can avoid the same frustrations.  Good luck!

Yeah, I figured out my problem.  I hat to tilt my controller to towards the screen while doing it.   Its stupid, this part shouldn't have been in the game.  I wasted alotta time on it.

Thats hilarious, I got it on the fist try. I thought it was very creative and added to the overall atmosphere of the game.

See this thread just reinforces what I'm talking about for the Wii and mixed reviews.

Lets say Edward M was a reviewer at Gamespot and this Call of Duty 3 situation occured.  He would probably write a scathing review of the game.  The game would lose points and people would be skeptical about buying the game.

Then on the other hand you have someone like Roperious...lets say he works for IGN.  Well he had no problem with motion controls and found it as a positive, in turn he writes a more favorable review.

I have seen more reviews about Wii games that cite "broken controls" than any other gaming system in exsistance.  Honestly I'm still going to boil it down to people not being comfortable and agile enough with motion controls.  Controlling games with your thumbs is one thing, but using your arms, hands wrists and thumbs takes more skill, patients etc...

Please note that I'm not trying to knock on Edward M...I'm sure he just had a simple problem with Call of Duty 3 and is fine with motion controls.  Though I'm willing to bet there are alot of people out there who will never become masters with the Wiimore, due to the physical demands it requires.
