I've lost interest

No matter WHAT hobby you are in, you are likely to "loose interest" as other things become important at times. Being the oldest here, I've gone through many. I thought I would never want to play 2600 games again and lost many rareities, same with NES and Genesis stuff-and I wish I still had my Amiga! Getting a job, going to college, and discovering cars and girls all took my enthuasim out of wanting games.

Even now, I am like you-I read more books and get on here more than I actually PLAY games-but no way will I make the mistake of selling them again! Older games especially are getting more and more expensive; you will not be able to rebuild a collection from thrift stores or lawn sales! ....at the least, do what I've done and pack most away for now. In ten years, if you still don't want it, heck, you can sell it for a tidy profit!

I've lost interest

Believe it or not, I also lose interest in video games sometimes.  It's usually on a weekend after I've been playing a lot of games and writing reviews.  All of the sudden I find myself just looking around at all the games thinking "what's the point of all this"?  So then I find something else to do, like watch a basketball game.

The thing is, the next morning I will wake up and be just as psyched up about video games as ever before.  Maybe I'm just weird that way.

I tend to be fanatical about most things.  Whether it's a snowstorm in the forecast, a big MD basketball game, or a new game console, I got nuts.  I'll be standing outside of Toys R Us tomorrow hoping to snag a Wii.

It is more than a little surprising that in your new found literacy, you haven't gained the ability to detect a joke .

I'm certain Dave was kidding about the novel reading thing.

Dude, it wasn't me who said that.

Like the VGC, I too have sold a bunch of video game stuff in the past, just to really regret it later on.  I have now "learned myself" and that I go in cycles--quite literally.  I will be really into gaming for about a year, then I'm into fishing for six months, then investments, then back to gaming.

Heck, you think that because after two weeks you don't want to game?  Are you kidding me?  I've gone nine months without turning on a console, but I always "cycle-back" full force.  In fact, the VGC would be able to see my posting history here is on for several months, off for several months, etc.

I had sort of a free day yestrday (Fri) here at home, and I didn't even feel like playing the 360/Wii/PS3.  That tells me I may be on the cusp of quitting gaming for a while.  Just got back from vacation where I fished the entire time too--so that didn't help.  Oh, and nothing good will be out for months gaming-wise.
