Switch Box

Finally got a TV with more than just RF input. I have several systems hooked up to a switch box via composite. The output on the back of the switch box is connected to the tv via S-video. I was wondering if the video quality displayed on the TV is S-video, or just composite over the S-video cable? There seems to be a difference when I use RCA cables instead of the S-video, but that just might be in my head.

you cannot use a switchbox to upscale composite output to s-video
but there is a noticeable difference between composite and s-video

Actually, I think a few companies like Pelican make an upscaling switchbox, but I think they upscale to component video, otherwise Chrisbid is right. Although, in my opinion, the difference between composite and S-video in only noticeable with a great signal into a great TV, and even then it is not substantial enough for you to notice while watching. I've always felt S-video was overrated and unnecessary. Component video is where you get the real noticeable difference for many reasons.
