I consider Warren Spector to be my favorite game designer in America. He made the Thief, Deus Ex,  and System Shock games for those who don't know who he is.   Every single one of his games always tried something new, even though they suceeded at various levels, I like a game designer who will be willing to risk so much.  And unfortunatly, all his risk did him in, As he had to close down his branch of Ion Storm in 2004.   I haven't heard from him since then.  Does anybody know if he is still in the gaming business?   I can't find any new articles on him.  His wikipedia article doesn't list anything. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Spector     I hope he isn't retired from gaming.

Funny you should mention Mr. Spector.  I just read an article about what he is up to the other day.  Check out the link below.

He is one of the brightest minds in the gaming industry and I can't wait to see what he does next.  I'm sure it will nothing short of legendary.

Thanks for the article.   I problem should have read the entire Wikipedia article before I posted.    I just looked over the list of games, but hidden in the text it says he started a new game studio.   Juntion Point Studios.   http://www.junctionpoint.com/    Man, I feel like an idiot now.

Apperantly he is making a fanasty game on the half life 2 engine.  Should be awesome!   And apperantly according to your article, Viviendi who is funding the game let him have creative control.  Eidos really held him back making stupid demands for his games, and it really showed in Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3.  I am really looking foward to a game that will be all him, and not just part him, part Eidos (AKA the worst company in the world) or part EA(AKA the second worst company in the world), etc. God do those companies suck, and they seem to specialise at running small but great game developers like Bull Frog and Looking Glass into the ground.

Yea I hear you about EA.  They bought all these great little companies and do nothing with the licenses the companies used to work on.  BullFrog in particular was one of my favorite game developers.  I would kill to see a brand new chapter in any of one of its classic franchises.  Syndicate, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper...all great IPs that are just wasting away in EA's massive library of games.

I really think the 90s had some of the best creative ideas in all of gaming.  Its a shame that the industry is getting to the point where all they want to do is copy the next big thing over and over again.

Here is another article featuring an interview with Mr. Spector.

It seems like he is all over the place right now and I expect some big announcements from him pretty soon.  He can only talk about his past so long before he has to offer up some details on his new games...right?
