question with emulators

can somebody give me a summary of what these are?  I've heard of them but dont know anybody who does this.  I've read somewhere of people putting multiple systems and games on xboxes....is it worth it?  Just some many questions and I havent been able to find any sites that explain it....any help would be appreciated, thanks ~!

Emulators are programs which allow you to run Emulated games on your PC.  They make emulator far all systems from Atari to Dreamcast, even though some of the later systems like the n64 have horrible emulators.  Emulators are legal,  but the roms (aka the games) are illegal.  So Basically you can boot up a SNES emulator legally, but if you play Mario you are breaking the law, even if you own the game, a bunch of DMCA crap  . Thanks alot Bill. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMCA

Here is a list of video game emulators. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emulators

The best ones are JNes for NES, Snes 9x for Snes, Project 64 for n64 (still horrible though), Gens for Sega Genesis and master system and 32x and Sega CD, EPSXe for Ps1,  MAME for arcade games, Visual Boy advance for GBA, NeoRageX.   I wont post any links to download the emulators, because generally only shady sites have them, but there is nothing illegal about downloading an emulator so go search for it.   Also roms are illegal, but if you have no morals like me, have fun searching for the roms, I am sure you can find them, after about 10 phony sites that lead to porn.

And about the xbox, yes the xbox can play emulated games.   You have to buy a mod chip and open your xbox which can be difficult.  Also Microsoft will ban any modded Xboxes from Xbox live.  Ive never done it, and it sounds better to just use emulators on a pc.  I got a computer port on my TV that can play in 720p, so I dont really care.

Nestopia, Kega Fusion and ZSNES are wonderful alternatives to JNes, GENS and SNES9X respectively. Try different ones to see which emus work best for you. If it's an option for that emulator, turn on high thread priority to prevent framerate drop.

And KAWAKS is a fine Capcom/Neo Geo arcade emulator.

the most useful emulator out there is MAME, it emulates pretty much any 2D arcade game ever produced. since there are a ton of old arcade games that are either incredibly hard to find, or are in some sort of IP limbo, i have little problem playing these games in MAME. (i do purchase every arcade game pack available for modern consoles, as i want to support companies that keep their older IPs alive and playable)

Hehe I seriously thought about it.  I just don't have the energy at this point   This is one of those endless topics that can practically consume you if you allow it to.
