guitar hero question

OK, I'm a GH newbie. I've been told it's best to learn to play holding down the top button at all times (except when you need to hit 2 notes at once), but I'm finding it hard to do. Any advice on techniques or hand position tips, so I don't get into bad habits right away?

I don't hold the top note and I'm pretty good at that game. If you're not comfortable with it just don't do it. You will need to learn to strum up and down if you want to beat some of the really hard stages, but you can worry about that once you get to expert. Just work your way through the difficulties and you should pick it up.

O.K. - good to know - I just find it so distracting to remember to hold down the top note that I start missing all the others!
